A few days ago, I separated Jazz from the sex-crazed women! He was just looking rough to me as if he were tired from trying to get away from them! Also, I was worried that, due to him not being able to fly, he would hurt himself. I was planning on waiting to get a roomier cage for him, but I was afraid something bad would happen if I waited too long. Jazz now lives across the room from the girls. They tweet to each other often, but he seems happier and more relaxed, not as stressed. I put his favorite silverware toy inside the cage and his favorite, rattling spinning mirror and he seems as happy as can be, despite the cage size. I'd like to get a roomier cage soon, so he can have more exercise!

The girls are in the bigger cage that's taller than I am! The fighting has stopped, but they still call to Jazz often. I'm just glad they're not trying to kill each other and, more importantly, NOT LAYING EGGS!

My mom suggested getting rid of the girls, but...I'm not sure. I'd like to keep them, but this situation has caused my Jazz so much stress. I'm against giving up birds. I think I would just feel bad, but I feel worse for Jazz's sake. He shouldn't be in the little cage all by himself. I would have rather had all boys, but it is what it is.

That's just an update! : ) Echo is doing well too! I just got her a foraging toy! She loves it! It keeps her occupied when I'm busy! smile

Hope everyone is well!

Love,
Jess and the Birds! smile

lol at sexed crazed...could be that as usual more than one female will fight for the male...they may not even like him just dont want the other girl to have him...go figure...sounds a little like teenage romances dont it...i dont want him but i dont want you to have him either giggle..

even tho Jessica they are separated i believe you already know this does not guarantee the girls one or the other will not go into a egg laying mode...and sometimes if one does..guess what..sigh...you got a predicament for sure going on...

for the sake of the birds i might give some real serious consideration to what mom said and put your own emotions aside for the well being of everyone...but of course the decision belongs to you...consider also,,,VET BILLS should things start to go funky...just seems a simple solution...if you find a nice home for the girls..Jazz will be stress free and have a bigger cage ...less work for you and less worries if something should happen with vet fees.

After taking serious consideration for Jazz's well-being as well as the girl's well-being...I've decided to put the girl's up for adoption. It is just too risky to keep them together. Even though it makes me feel ill inside to send them away, I feel that this is best for everyone...

I don't want to feel horrible, but I do.

why feel horrible...geeeesh your being a logically and responsible person and the birds will be happier as well...this is a good thing...and in the future you may end up with another male..you need to think more of all the good things that will come of this and how your taking full responsibility in the right way to give them a better life...isnt that what we all strive to do HOPEFULLY??? It SHOULD BE...

then there is as metioned more time to save a nice cash pot for any AVIAN VET incidents which hopefully you will never have to know but you will have the added comfort of no stress in that area either...

for what its worth...i think your doing a VERY POSITIVE thing.

Aww poor Jazz. And poor you Jessica, I can only imagine the guilt, but ultimately what you are doing is only in the best interest of the birds...it isn't as though you are just throwing them to the first willing person and saying I'm done. What you are doing is responsible and well thought out!

Dont' feel guilty Jessica. It's almost Christmas and I'll bet if the girls are finger trained and sweet, you'll find great homes for them. Interview your perspective owners carefully and you'll feel good about this whole thing.
