Wouldn't it be interesting if it ended up being something no one guessed?

I'm not sure if there's anything left at this point We've probably guessed at everything from asteroids to space aliens to plague to termites.

Apparently the world will end if we have a war - or if we have peace.

And it seems like every year someone is convinced this is the year it'll end.

I'm really curious what people will say when we make it past the pope after Ratzinger. Then they'll be all confused

in the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy the earths inhabitants pack all the most useless members of the planet - hairdressers, advertising executives and telephone sanitizers amongst others off onto a one way flight into deep space. shortly afterwards the everyone who remained behind was wiped out by an infection contracted from an unhygenic telephone.

thats the thing about armageddon - you never know where it will come from, and the possibities are endless.

Actually, it already happened. the world already did end, it's just that the world hasn't finished killing off its inhabitants.

We're all just marking time.

Maybe this is the "pre" after-life.

I remember getting into this discussion with a Christian once. It was interesting to see the spin on the womb. After all, that's a plce we don't want to leave either, and have to be expelled. What we call life today is the 'after-life' from the womb. which only can extrapolate to their being another "life" after this one.

mbas, I like that. I've often considered that where ever we were before we were alive is probably the same place we return to.

Our discussion recalls to my memory one of the Twilight Zone episodes I viewed as a young man. I've referred to this from time to time.

In this episode, a man died, and "awakens" in a place where he has endless supplies of things he considered fun - gambling (and always winning), women (who think he's really hot, and want to please him), booze (that doesn't have bad effects), etc.

As time went on, the man complained to the person in charge. He said he was bored, and would rather go to hell. The answer was, "Where did you think you were?"

Carl, that episode reminds me of Hotel Royale episode of Star Trek the Next Generation. A season one classic, if memory serves.
