well first of all i feel as tho i need to possibly correct a couple things in this post...

ive fed all seed diets to my birds for many years and never once had a bird with a tumor...ive never also known millet to cause tumors...in fact i feed my bird now a all seed diet...with veggies and herbs and spices too. Sooooooo now that we got ***that...out of the way.....thats MY two cents on that...maybe someone experienced this but never me...

wise you dont use any type of cleaning agents in the house???

im trying to think of any type of airborne chemicals...can you think of anything??

Really? thank you for correcting me illusive. I read somewhere that feeding birds just seeds their whole life will cause problems such as tumors and millet is the big cause of it. But there are some places on the internet where people just lie and scare people just to make money

toony sometimes whats in print is generalized and also taken out of context...that is a very very old saying going back to the 50's when the only seed was a three type basic budgie mix...

but a really good mix of different seeds for keets and researching whats good and then buying organic...is good for birds...

if for a moment i believed that when i raised speciality show cockies i would of never fed seed...its all in the mix...and how its mixed...

as i keep saying however...to each their own...

even what is typed in text in these threads is often taking out of context...

When reading about parakeets, the information I listen to is usually what airs on the side of caution. Also, I look for the articles/books written by the most loving and compassionate sounding bird owners who clearly want the very best for all parakeets out there. I think chemicals are always a problem and I'm having trouble myself figuring out how I can make my home as bird safe as possible. The non-stick pans, candles, fragrances, cleaning products that are not bird safe etc… I need to get them out.

I use cleansing agent for toilet and kitchen. But my budgies rarely go into the toilet and kitchen. I also use non-stick cooking ware. But I would close the door of the kitchen and switch on the exhaust air fan. Also, the kitchen is about 4m away from the budgie room. Now i'm thinking of the heater i switch on in their room. Will the air too dry? I dunno whether it has telfon, but the other 2 budgies in the room do not have such problem.

I see… well I live in an 1800 sq. ft condo and there are no doors blocking the kitchen from the dining room and then to the living room… hmm What do you all think about lighting candles?

it makes no difference at all if you use non stick and close the doors it still can kill

it also makes no difference if your using a cleaning agent and the bird doesnt go there...its airborne

the heater can also have a non stick coat to it...

and it could dry out the air too much...

candles cannot be scented type
