so i was sitting next to dantes cage tonight and he kept going to the food door then going to the clear part next to it looking at me and squawking. the past 2 times hes come out hes done so through the food door. i was like no way. so i went and put up the sheet i block off the kitchen with and opened his food door. and sure enough he walked out onto the door and just stood there squawking some more. i put my arm up to it and he hopped right on. i could not believe it. no hesitation or anything. he sat with me climbing all over me and my couch then after a while he flew to the curtain. i waited a bit then went over to it and put my arm up and he came right back on again. it was great! he sat with me even fell asleep on my shoulder for a bit. preened the little hairs along my hair line then went back in his cage for a bite to eat. after about 5 mins he came back onto his door. i put my arm there HE CAME RIGHT BACK ON AGAIN! now i know its not a fluke.

the saying all in bird time is right. it took me 7 months for him to do this. hes came to me before and sat with me but never ever like this. with him actually showing/telling me he wants it. im so happy

thank you connor! dante and i have always had a good relationship through the cage. he flock calls me and even gives me kisses. comes and sits on the perch closest to me. and will at times come sit on me but i honestly gave up thinking that there would be a time hed want to actively come out and be with me. and that was fine with me. as long as he is happy. it was just such a surprise that he did that tonight.

the first time he was on me i would barely move. i thought if i moved hed freak and fly away or try and scare me like usual. the second time he was on me i tried moving some and he just preened away. one time when i moved my head he started preening my hair. in the end i realized i could move all i wanted and it didnt phase him. even since i put him back hes been squawking at me and wanting back out. to bad for him though its late and i need sleep.

i felt bad this morning. as soon as i uncovered him he was doing the same thing wanting out. and as happy as it made me and as much as i wanted to take him out i couldnt cuz i was getting ready to leave. i think a lot of it has to do with moving his cage right next to the couch where i sit. he will sit on the perch next to me all night long and yell at me if i dont pay attention to him. i believe its helped him to get comfy with me without feeling threatened (hand in the cage or anything) here are a couple pics from last night
