Is anyone else being lured by the Amazon Kindle Fire? I have a lot of reading I have to do for my online classes, and this seems like a perfect way to do it without lugging the very heavy textbooks around with me all the time. I like that it's inexpensive (relatively) - I'm counting pennies right now.

I have received my Fire and I like it a lot. The color screen is great, and the library of books right at my fingertips is very convenient. I'm still trying to figure out if the glare-screen is that much worse than the neutral screen of the e-ink Kindles ...

Dan will be getting a Fire soon and giving me his kindle. I've used his before to finish reading something but don't love it. I don't find it (at least this version of it) very instinctual to use.

And i don't like that you can't read in bed with the light off without having some kind of nightlight. I seem to prefer reading on my iphone.

I will be pleased to see the Fire and compare.

I think a night light is gentler on the eyes, though, than a light that shines "into" your eyes. I think the human eyes were meant to work with reflected light, not with direct light. That's what I'm finding is easier on my eyes smile

Different things for different people! I love the backlighting on my iphone and prefer to read that way. smile

kksuns has a kindle fire and she isnt nuts about it either ...especially when you type a word and it doesnt come up anything like the word you put in...she also doesnt like how small the keys are...but she does like that for now its serving her as her computer is down.

sounds like to me its not the most user friendly thing from the things she has told me.

I suppose it depends what you're used to - the Fire is definitely much better than my smaller smartphone which is what I use most of the time.

Welcome, JulieCat!

I have the original Fire from when it first came out, but nothing since then. I do not know anyone who purchased a later Fire.
