Every time Tizzy comes out of the nestbox and tries to eat Roger chirps really loud and pecks at her while she tries to eat. He never use to do that but started it just recently. (By the way we have 2 babies now.) What could Roger be up to?

Dear Linda -

What is the status of the eggs now? It's fine to be patient and let nature run its course here - the important thing is to keep stress low for the mom and the new little baby smile

The last I knew 3 eggs have hatched. Should be one more before it is over. 2 were infertile. Baby Boo(1st) is getting so big. I can tell which one is cheeping. Boo is the loudest and kind of sing songy. Baby Spook(2nd) a little softer and Jellybean(3rd) is real soft. Boo is getting really big and starting to get shafts coming in so fluff or feathers soon. Should I try to clean some of the poop out of the nestbox? It does have a bit of a smell to it.

noooooo it will harden you can just freshen it a bit maybe with a few very thin torn strips of paper towel but not to many ya dont want the littlest getting buried giggle...it will be ok...

once they are all done and fledging take the box down immediately and then you can scrap off the poop...and disenfect it...i like the name jelly bean giggle laugh

Baby Boo's egg was laid the day before Halloween, Baby Spook a few days after and then jellybean is for the candy. Trying to keep with Halloween names. Great-grandson and I are trying to think of one for when #4 is hatched.

Baby Boo and Baby Spook are growing very big. Boo is getting fluffy. But now I don't see any sign of Jellybean. I don't know if he is dead or alive because I can't find him. Maybe he is underneath the other two. 3 eggs did not hatch. How soon should I remove the eggs?

leave all as is...stop worrying...when the ones that did hatch begin to fledge and have COMPLETELY fledge then you can remove everything...but even the eggs that didnt hatch will hold heat to keep the smallest warm so you dont want to disturb anything as i keep mentioning smile

the birds themselves instinctively know what to do even better than we do... thank goodness...and the less we interfere the better smile

Sorry if I am a worry-wart. I am like a new mom and just want to do right by them. Thanks again for all your patience and help! I want them to be healthy happy little ones. This is a new experience for great grandson and great grandma too.
