Took my wonderfully trained and sweet springer spaniel Maggie to Pet Smart yesterday to get dog food, cookies and another present to give the birds on Christmas since they already opened their toy early and.....
I was walking along with the cart and Maggie was cheerfully walking quietly next to the cart and BAM! A not well trained, and aggressive terrier mix attacked her and was hanging on her long ears and she was screaming! The terrier was trying to take her to the floor. The woman on the end of the terrier leash just stood there going "oh no, stop, your bad, no stop" so I took my fist and smashed it on the top of her dogs head and startled the terrier and she let go. I pulled Maggie to me and she was bleeding.
The store manager stepped in and asked me if Maggie was okay and did she need a vet. I asked if she could have it cleaned and looked at by the Pet Smart vet and he said no problem.
NOW GET THIS! The woman wanted my name and number and she was calling the police to make a report of animal abuse!!! Because I hit her dog and may have cause her dog brain damage!!!
Well folks I lost it. Now, I want you to know I do not lose it in public and I open doors and give people a smile and a hello most days but I just lost it....
I got in her space, (the manager had Maggie) and said very loudly " You are a F****** nut job lady. Please call the police and we will get the store video and all watch it together and we will see who is at fault here! Please call, I am begging you". With that she replied, that I was scaring her and she was leaving the store and never coming back to this awful place and blah, blah, blah...". The entire store began cheering when she left but not before the store manager got her name and number for me!!!!
Maggie has some teeth scratches and the vet treated her and she is fine. We got her 50# of dog food free, a box of her favorite cookies, a $5 coupon for another visit and a cute bobo toy she liked at the vets office. She got her very own bobo free from the manager.
What the lady didn't know was Maggie is a Canine Good Citizen Award Winner and a AKC Utility Dog, and the manager at that Pet Smart used to take dog training from me at Detroit Kennel Club. She didn't know who she was messing with!!!
I would do the same thing again no matter where I was. People are just absolutely nuts these days.
