Pipsqueak at 6 months old still has a bluish cere with white around her nostrils. I've been told by folks here that she is infact a she. She has a petite frame, small head. You can really see the difference in shape when compared to Chirp, who is pretty obviously a boy with a bright blue cere.

SIZE or DANTINESS does not indicate sex...only the cere when they mature at around 8 mos. smile

also the white around the nares is not generally conclusive to being a female.... frown sowwwy...just wait and we all shall see in a few months what is what as many folks have small males ..sorta like folks ya know...some of us are big some of us are smaller but its not a indication to our sex... laugh

Hmmm now I know. i was told she was a she, but I guess it was just an educated guess. That's all I've gone on. so in a couple of months we will know and if she turns out to be a he, I will be happy for that, but sad that I split them up for nothing.

Like if its white wit a tint of blue not jus white around the nares. i've seen alot of males with the white around the nares but the ones that dnt have that solid blue is a girl and if its pink a boy til it changes USUALLY. so i think she's a girl still thats were my money is:)

I know it's hard to see with the photos I put up but to me it's mostly white with a hint of blue. When I first got her it was bluer than it is now and just gets lighter.
Couple more months and I will know for sure!

I know. Isn't that cute? I couldn't believe I caught that shot and didn't know it 'till later when I went through my pics. Yeah, right there, that's the spot!

You mean me? They are separated. About a foot apart though. Same kind of cage, nice an roomy. More than enough for 1. Chirp seems to enjoy not being picked on and Pips is acting stressed out at not being able to access to Chrip.

The photos are ones I took a while back right before I separated them.

I think you are right, they bonded. I am hoping that having them in separate cages will speed up the taming process. I think it is, but in tiny tiny increments.

I have backed off with Pips on the finger training and gone back to just the perch and that seems to help. Chirp will step right up on my hand, hop off and hop back on again. This is all done inside the cage.
Would you say that is progress? Any tips?

any progress for them is HUGE...just doesnt seem like it to us always...and with only being like a foot apart well they cant copulate but they otherwise might as well be in the same cage that close...still is a BIG stimulation to them... crazy

I know how folks like everyone together but myself and this is only me...as i absolutely would be extremely upset at the thought of egg laying hens cuz ive been there with deliberate breeding ...would NOT even have them in the same room... and at least at opposite ends not right next to each other...

Until you go thru a egg laying or bound hen and especially if you dont have a avain vet close ..this is soooo playing with fire.

and the next time your up so late...hey make us a cup of hot chocolate will ya ...giggle.
