Never defrosting any kind of plastic eve the vacuum seal bags, and never in plastic containers.

I don't even defrost in the micro, the only thing I use it for is to heat up bean bag wrap for sore muscles and once in a while to melt butter for popcorn or baking, that's it. We use the stove oven and top as well as the convection toaster oven.

Good luck Wolfie please let us know what happens at the vet.

My keet is doing well so far. She's laid another 3 eggs! smile
I tried looking for "hulless hemp" on ebay but I could only find "hulled hemp"... Do I specifically need them to be "hulless"?

I've been feeding her the petamine breeders food for the time being, along with beet leaves, kale, carrots, celery leaves, and cucumber... She has still not gotten more than one teensy tiny nibble of brown rice or sweet potatoes, though. haha

oooooook if you got the petamine you wont need the hulless hemp so just keep doing that ...i like that better for right now anyway...and even a teensy bit of sweet potatoe is awsome...just keep putting them altogether for a nice color affect ...cept for the petamine feed that separate ..cuz they are attracted to the colors ...looks more appetizing not only to them with their food but our foods also...

if she lays anymore eggs id get really concerned and some of the last eggs wont be fertile where the male died a few days back...just LEAVE them ALONE and DO NOT DISTURB im serious ..in time you will know what you have or dont...and glad she is doing well and sitting now...its just as well some of those eggs will not be fertile being the male died a few days back as that would be a lot for her to do on her own feeding all those kids...giggle..

back to laying more eggs ...seriously now have a vet ready to give her a shot if she continues to lay...it will drain her system of calcium wayyyyyyyyyy too much...and thats when they get eggbound.

Oh, I think you have me confused with another user. frown My male keet didn't die... He's still sitting close to the box and is very lonely without his wife. haha

I don't touch the eggs at all. In the morning, there's enough sunshine for me to kinda peek into the hole of the nesting box while the female is hanging around outside. smile I've seen her trying to gather up all her eggs underneath her. It's so cute! <3

I've also noticed that she pushed aside all the timothy hay I put inside the box...so now the eggs are just resting on the wooden floor of the box. frown Is that okay? I want to put in some more nesting to help "cushion" the eggs but I really don't want to bother her...

your right dont bother her and again sorry if i confused you with another person in here who lost their male bird...so many of you lately with breeding issues...glad to hear your pair are fine wolfie...and believe me he isnt lonely without his mate...

SUPER glad to know you listen and dont mess around in the nestbox UNLIKE some others...proud of you for that....and yah she will push them together and thats also a way she will rotate the eggs as thats very necessary SHE does that and NOT us...and then will fluff herself up and squat...i cant imagine that being very comfortable for hens ...i get a visual of us trying to make a bunch of small rocks under some blankets comfortble lol...

they dont really need the nesting material and in the summer when its really hot that can really actually be worse to do...

so keep us informed of your little family...do you have a vet on call nearby just in case YOU SHOULD...and do you already have savings for another cage to put the fledged babies in when it comes time and away from parents...???

dont let her go to a second clutch tho and take down that nest box when all but one fledges and just take the other out at the same time...they will be fine...

oh one more thing be sure to offer her a shallow bowl of water on the bottom of the cage to bathe in should she or the male decide to do that as its also a way they bring in some moisture to the eggs should they feel its necessary.

anxious for more updates....keep doing well with them and NOT messing around in her little nursery laugh

Thanks for always replying so quickly, illusive fantasy!

I just caught them mating 10 minutes ago... Should I be concerned? I thought they wouldn't be mating anymore since they already have a clutch at the moment. :\ I don't know if I should separate them or not, because the male has been eating a LOT in order to regurgitate to the female...

Also, this is a very dumb question, but when he is throwing up food for her, is there any nutrients in the food being transferred?

ok sorry but i sooooo needed a good laugh and hugs wolfie for giving me one...ok havent noticed you ask any real dumb questions for one...and yes there is nutrients so now lets think logically wolfieeee lol if there wasnt how would the babies live off the parents doing this for them???

im saying this now in a loving way...relax and enjoy the entire experience...document things everyday with this pair all thru the entire process ...keep a journal...you will be shocked how much good that will do for you done the road.

and yes right now BOTH parents are eating for more than just one because they are feeding each other and its errrrrrrrm no throwing up food...this is food that has not been digested therefore not thrown up...it comes from their crops.

and im going to be truthful here...she has how many eggs NOW lol...lil fertile myrtel...anyway i would be concerned for sure if it goes over 7MAX even over 6 can be pushing it but didnt you say this wasnt her first clutch...im too lazy at 3:30am to scroll back and look...and no you dont want to do anything to stress either parent such as ...separating them ...

and as many questions as you ask and i answer how about answering mine tooooo please...such as are you putting water in the cage for parents to bathe in...

ok goooooooood nite...i think im tired but im not sure as im so tired to know if i am or not...did that make sense.???giggle.
