yes sometimes they take turns sitting ...so dont worry...all is well..and yes lets hope no more are laid...sounds like a good pair there you have...dont mess inside tho like i said ...keep water in a shallow dish too like i mentioned...so nothing is strange all sounds normal and well...and keep us informed ... glad you let us know ...thanks

She's laid her 7th egg today. Whew, she must be so stressed. The daddy will sometimes go into the box and sit on the eggs with her though.
Also, I think she's losing a bit of feathers... I'm not sure if this is just because her chest feathers are getting ruffled from lying on the eggs. Anything I can do to make her feel more comfortable?

yes you can lay those eggs yourself lol and im telling ya ...id get her to a vet to have her stop laying...been warning about this...now the time has come...:(

*sigh* I knew something was up... What is the max number of eggs a parakeet can lay in a clutch? I've read a lot of different answers on the web. Some say 3-4, others say 5-8.
I'll keep you posted on her well-being.

this is too many...this is what id call just over the top limit of what id call safe ..dont hesitate and wait or whatever make that appt...for as soon as possible...simple as that wolfie...dont wait to see if she will stop...make the appt FOR ASAP...tell them whats happened...and so you dont want to wait a week persay..cuz if she keeps laying you figure it out as to how many more eggs that would be IF she doesnt get eggbound and then die...there is no waiting time now...sorry...

oh yeah AVIAN vet...so they will know this is serious..glad i caught up with you when you were still logged into the forum...that way you saw this and there wont be another delay.

Unfortunately, the only avian clinic in my area just CLOSED an hour earlier, so I will make an appointment tomorrow morning when it opens asap.
I won't be able to post again this weekend, but I'll come back with news on Monday or Tuesday. As always, thanks again for your advice and care, illusive.

you can transport just the two of them ...mama and papa and the eggs will be fine for a short time...on their own..id take papa too not for a exam he doesnt need one but to keep her calm and he wont mess up with the eggs...good luck

A quick update on my keet...
She's doing great. She stopped laying eggs, so there are 7 total. They'll (hopefully) begin hatching next week. I can't wait!!

well that IS good news ...when did she lay her first egg...do you remember the date? Also remember she didnt start to sit on that first egg right away...

did you get another cage for when babies fledge??? And what on earth will you do with that many birds?
