Open an account at photobucket.com (it's free)
Upload pics there, then copy/paste the IMG code of the pic(s) you want to use here.
If you click on IMG code in photobucket it should automatically copy..then just paste here

well thank you for posting a picture but now after seeing this pic id say maybe your bird has a leg infection and should be seen by a AVIAN vet...

those caked crusted piles of droppings are NOT healthy and also dont look to be healthy droppings (form /color) and this birds environment to be very honest, is filthy ...as so it also seems its feathers are in very poor condition.

looks to me like a grass keet/bourke...it is NOT a rosella...but salyummz your first concern should not be what type is it but improving on its cleanliness and living conditions as a pet bird living like this is NOT healthy to it OR YOU .... and getting it to a AVAIN vet....and very possibly getting it on a better diet also.... frown

that cage needs a THOROUGH scrapping /scrubbing and disenfecting then should be cleaned everyday or every other day of all debris and poops ...put some paper towel on the bottom to help with keeping it clean once you get it THOROUGHLY cleaned and disenfected.

this bird is im CERTAIN sick very sick and thats why it was "thrown in for good measure"...those poops say internal illness and a avian vet needs to run test on it.

Oh my gosh! Ditto to all of the above, including what kind I THINK it is.

salyummz,
if that is truly your friend's bird, then be a good friend and help him/her get that cage cleaned up and convince them to take the bird to an Avian vet.Poor thing looks so sad living like that. eek cry sick

I would just love to see new pics after you and your friend do a good thorough clean up. Imagine how much happier and healthier it would be in a nice clean home? wink
Living in those conditions the poor little thing is going to get very very sick and die

Hold on there...thats NOT my bird..its someone elses..ill post a pic of my Rosellas who are kept spotless, well fed and watered and have regular checks by myself who is a trained veterinary nurse. The red legs on the other bird i posted is not its skin..its feathers on its ankles are red!
I have told her on several occasions about the birds and they smell bad too as the cage is only emptied out at the bottom,,,the perches arent cleaned and the water only changed when they remember...i take little treats to them when i can.ill post my Rosellas so u can see the difference.

well it wont be easy for ya thats for sure...but it needs to be done for the birds sake who has no say...no reason for a animal to have to live like that...it takes minutes for gosh sakes to clean up the birds cage and make sure of fresh water etc... such a shame...wish you luck but more importantly i hope that bird has better luck... smile its the one that counts.

Your birds are beautiful saly. I can see they are very well cared for and well loved grin

Now if only you could teach your friend to follow in your footsteps. *sigh
But I have a feeling that ain't gonna happen
Please pleeeease DOOOO do something about it. If you have to turn her in or confiscate her birds then so be it.
The way she is making them live in there own feces is unconscionable. It's abuse pure and simple.
Yes it will be hard for you to do, but I would think that knowing what those birds are going thru is even harder??

Thanx for sharing pics of Rosie n Jim. We don't get to see rosellas here very often

There is an ample quantity of different types of parrots including: Lovebirds, Lorikeets, Amazons, Cockatoos, and Macaws and they all consist of unique and similar parrot information. All of these birds can most likely be seen within your local zoo due to the fact that they are comprised of attractive and vibrant colors that can prove to catch the eye of visitors.

Hello Parakeetnames.

I get the impression that you are genuinely interested in parakeets and, on that basis, you are very welcome to join in with the conversations on this board, but please do not include links to sales ventures. Your posts must not include advertising. Thank you. smile

Hi all..for those that were concerned about the little greeny coloured parakeet, Polly, that was living in dirty and poor conditions...no need to worry. I have her now and she is clean, contented and happy, living in a cage next to my Rosellas. She`s a little uncertain as yet when i give her treats as its something she never had. Now she gets proper food to suit her small bill, greens, millet and fresh clean water every day, which she often bathes in. Her feathers had no natural oils left in them, but now it`s begining to build up again and her colour has improved. Ill post another picture of the new improved Polly when i can get one sorted out.

That's awesome salyummz! So now that it's cleaned up a bit do you think it's a Bourke?
Soo glad you stepped in and ended up adopting it. Many complain about conditions but don't DO anything about it.
YOU did. I'm sure Polly is very grateful and happy now.
Kudos to you smile

Yes we'd love to see pics!

Hi Everyone!

What is the status of the little green budgie...Polly..? How is she doing since she was removed from the abusive and digusting living conditions. When I look at Blossom's environment and how enriched she is, it breaks my heart to see that someone would treat a beautiful, precious creature like that...Please advise on her condition.

Awaiting News,

Preciousbaby and Blossie!

some peoples feelings and emotions can go from one extreme to another...

such as treating pets like humans case in point...dressing them...or transferring our human emotions to them believing theirs is the same level and depth... and as a result actually do a injustice to them.

others treat them like home decorations part of a decor...

and some of us just spoil with love but yet also remember they are not human but just loving loyal intelligent animals...and recognize.... the hand that feeds them... smile

I sometimes have to be reminded that Blossie is not my child. I get too caught up with her...I just love her so much and I do spoil the heck out of her!!!

I just enjoy her antics and I can't imagine my home without a budgie!

Ok here she is..MY Polly..Hopefully you can see how much she is improving from the first pic i took when my friend had her. Still not sure if she`s a bourke or grass Parakeet, maybe someone can tell for sure. The turquoise has come out more now in her wing feathers and there`s orangy red in her tail now to match those pretty socks of hers..she`s still a little tatty round the edges but as her feathers improve so will that hopefully. (I also clipped her nails which were almost growing back into her legs).
She`s still got a way to go yet but ill get her there with love and proper care. smile

hmmm I don't know what she is. I THINK grass keets are a type of Bourke?
She really does look sooo much better. She looks happier..and even PROUD. Good job!
I know we say it alot here, but do you know how important Vit A is for healthy feathers? Will she eat veggies? Like sweet potato and or carrots? Or try some crushed red pepper added to her seed mix?

Nekton makes a bird vitamin specially formulated for feather growth. It's called Nekton Bio. http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=6165 I know it's pretty pricey, if you get some you might want to shop around for best price, but Nekton products are very good and I think little Polly would benefit from the Bio.
Thanks for the update and the new pic. Makes my heart happy to see how much better she looks and feels smile
Keep up the good work

She is such a little doll! Look how proud and straight she is perching!!! Oh, I could just kiss her! Great Job with saving this little girl. I really don't know what kind of bird she is. Maybe the more experienced birdkeepers can give some feedback.

I wish you luck, love and health with little Polly!

she..which you dont know for sure is a she without a blood test,.. is a PIONUS...pronounced PIE OH NUS ...and id remove that branch now as it has a JUTTING sharp part to it which she could cause some SEVERE injury to herself on...and begin to do a lot of reading on the Pionus and learn about her background and needs...she needs fruits and veggies and best to as mentioned read the diet requirements as DIET has much to do with conditioning along with frequent misting or bath offerings.

they are also prone to VIT A DEFICIENCY so watch that big time and your bird IS seriously lacking VIT A as the feathers are not tight and are wispy...get some VIT A into that birds diet it will also help build more muscle mass and it shows it could use this as well.

Just google Pionus for info.

how large is the cage ???

thanks also for getting back to all of us laugh

she has vit a suppliment in her food now..ive only rscued her just over a week so theres a lot of work to do with her...she wont eat veg atm as she never had it before..i put it in tho and hope she will try a little. The only fruit she eats are apples.
As for the branch..although it looks sharp..it isnt, its just fibrous stuff she chewed out herself and its only soft. She has more proper perches further down in the cage too but loves that one to pick at.
The cage is plenty large enough its just over half the size of the one my two rosellas live in. You have no need to worry about her care, as i think most on here now know that im an animal lover and care for all my pets it is of the utmost importance to me and first on my list each morning. She is misted regularly as are my other birds, she also takes a bath by herself.

With a little determination and routine, hopefully she will catch on to the veggie eating thing. I know it can take some a good long time before they finally give in and give it a try. Just do what you are doing and stick with it.
Good to hear you've already gotten the vit A supplement. You're on the ball, and obviously have done your research wink

I have also heard that adding aloe to their bath water or misting water is great for their feathers. Haven't tried it myself tho, so I can't say that through experience.

You keep showering that little gal/guy with love salyummz and she will return it 10 fold.

i too am glad to hear you have a vit A supplement and hopefully she will figure out soon that fresh veggies and fruits are goooood and its a better way to get that vitamin into them as well...

im sorry i remember now once before you mentioned cage size so pardon my bringing it up again but it is always a question i ask to cover all the basis...

im thrilled you did this rescue i cant imagine what this poor birds life has been like previously ...it should NEVER happen but unfortunately these things do happen

im also glad the former owner decided to relinquish the bird to a better situation... laugh
