Hi!!

Not sure if this is the right place in the forum to ask this, but I really am looking for answers.

We have a bird with 4 chicks, Lucy. The male, Ulysses, has been trying...well...maybe suceeding, in mating with Lucy and the oldest chick is only 16 days old. As soon as we saw him on her, we moved him out of the cage, because we certainly don't want more eggs or him trying to kill the current babies for new ones. Aren't these babies to young for them to be at it again?? Did we do the right thing taking him out?? SO many people have so many answers, that we just don't know what to think anymore!! If you could shed a little light on this, it would be most helpful!! Thank you for you time!!

Also...will he mate with another female?? We were told, and read, that they are one-gal-guys....but is that for life, or?????? Thanks!!

Sorry...Parakeets. Lucy is yellow and green and is about 3 years old and Ulysses is white with grey/blueish spots, and is about 14 months. Thanks!!

well fo sure they are old enuf to breed....and why would you want to mate him with another female you already have problems on your hands lol....and he shouldnt try to kill the babies and while mama can feed the chicks on her own she shouldnt have to as thats asking a lot...no they dont bond for life either but as long as this female is there she will be his mate. please return him to his babies ..for all sakes the babies and mama and his ...if she ends up continuously laying too many eggs she will need to see a avain vet and females can lay eggs without a male anyway.

and for gosh sakes dont poke around in the nest ...leave all alone.
