Last year our bird, Vero, flew away the last day in May. This site was one of them I checked out to see what we could do to find him. I knew the chances were slim, as stated in the lost bird information. We posted flyers around the neighborhood and used various online postings, as well as posting at the vet's office. We had a few responses, either sightings or "hearings'. Each one we checked out to no avail. Then, in August, we got a call from a neighbor down the street about him, that he was in their possession. We once more took his cage and checked it out. The bird they had was blue, and looked a little like him, even though ratty and thin. But when we put him in the cage, he recognized it! We were just ecstatic to think that after 2 1/2 months our little bird was home and neighborhood flyers had worked! The rescuers told us he had flown into a wall in the backyard of their home. Someone knew about the flyer, so got our number. It took him awhile to reaclimate, but he is well now and doesn't pant anymore when evening falls. I hope all who have lost a bird can have a happy ending like this!

hi there and welcome to the forum ...im going to try this again as i tried to post a response but it doesnt look like it went thru...

sooooooooo excited for you as this is truly a RARE event to get your bird back once its escaped...which by the way how did that happen...

id recommend where you dont know what this lil bird has been thru to get a avian vet wellness check done on it as soon as you can.......as im not sure what you mean by panting but a bird that pants is generaly suffering some sort of lung or breathing issues so you want to get that checked even if you say he is not doing it anymore it still could be a underlining issue...

glad you stayed on top of this and did all the right things with poster and into vet stores etc etc...get a good picture should this ever happen gawd forbid to go with the flyers ...

and truly yes this is a happy ending IF the vets wellness check also goes well... smile

WOW!!! A happy story indeed. smile
To think the little guy was out there on his own for that long and you still managed to find him is AMAZING.
You're saying this happened LAST year at this time?
How long after you finally found him did he continue to do the panting? And it was only in the evening? hmmm

LOVE to hear happy stories like yours. Would love to see pics of your little adventurer.

Thanks for telling your story here. It will help give others an idea of what to do in case they are in the same situation, and let them know that there IS hope if they get lost bird info out there quickly. No matter how slim, it CAN happen.
