Ok so I saw my keet taking care of himself and he lifted his wing to get under it and I just noticed it was shorter than his left wing. I believe the flight feathers fell out. I found 1 yesterday laying near the cage and I thought it was a tail feather so I just kind brushed it off. I'm just worried because I have had him for a few years and I never saw this before and it's only on the right side. He isn't really losing any other feathers more than usual. And I know birds molt feathers and summer is here I'm just concerned for my baby frown

you probably just never noticed but im sure he has had a major moult several times if you had him a few years ...there is no reason for concern he will slowly lose many fluffs and then his flight an finally his tail feather and will look like a little stumpy butt giggle

its important to increase his protein at this time however...and he will get grumpy as they feel like one giant pin cushion and there is nothing you can do about it cept to sympathize with him...

however like i said you do want to increase his protein...give him some hard boiled egg...if you can find some for awhile some hulless hemp ..you can order it online but you dont need too much as this isnt something you will continue to feed AT ALL..only during a major moult...

http://store.globalhemp.com/hemp-food-p/...CFUWo4AoduEdrnA

only get that much and feed till gone putting some into his regular seed cup...feed a couple hefty pinches...

in the meantime make him some as mentioned hard boiled eggs..cut it in half and let him feast on it...the white and the yolk part...

The same thing happened to my Ziggy one time. He was going thru a molt and happened to have a night fright. he must have jarred all the flights on his left wing because they all fell out. I figured they must have been ready to go anyway...BUT they usually don't lose alll the flights on one side at a time. It should stay pretty even on both wings.
I know when it happened to Zig, he couldn't fly right for a while..til his flights grew back in. It took about 2 weeks for him to grow them back.
Sooo be careful and keep an eye on him. It's highly possible he won't be able to fly properly and could injure himself.
I myself didn't let Ziggy out for fly time once I saw he couldn't do it. He could only go a short distance and couldn't turn well so he would crash. frown Poor guy

Up the protein like illusive said. Only until he's done molting, then cut back on protein again.

My Kiwi tends to molt one side at a time, he is the only keet I have had that does that and he still wants to go out and play - poor boy has a hard time but he usually doesnt try to fly too far - just hops around on top of the two keet cages side by side
