I love parakeets and I just wanted to see why other people love them so much. My mom says no one likes them like I do so I wanted to prove her wrong! Thanks

well you can tell her there are more parakeets out there than folks know what to do with them...and thats the truth.

and they are so well liked mostly because of two things they are not as noisey as bigger birds and they come in a wide variety of colors.

however, that being said AVIAN VET BILLS are quite high if you need to go to a vet the avg cost is $500 - $600 and people ought to make sure they have that much right off in the beginning or shouldnt own one...these lil pets deserve good medical attention like any other pet when they get sick or injured..also it hard to sometimes find a AVIAN vet that deals specifically with birds as regular vets dont really have much schooling with them and only know some basics...so a AVIAN vet also needs to be found ahead of time in your area...

if you are one of the lucky ones to have one near you thats a BIG BONUS...and mom should also know that.

Well silver, you can tell your mom that I, and I'm pretty sure everyone else on this forum, loves keets just as much as you do. LOL
I love the way they are so playful and SMART. They're fun to watch when they are just doing things keets do..playing, bathing, flying, quite the little acrobats. they're fun to interact with/play games with once you have earned their trust and they are SOOOO much more intelligent than some people give them credit for. They DO understand what we are saying to them...they associate words with objects and actions.
They each have their own individual personality and crazy little quirks.
AND they can talk just like the bigger parrots do

The fact that they come in such a wide array of colors is just icing on the cake. To me, color doesn't play as big a role as their personality. They're all beautiful in their own right, but yes, there are some very VERY gorgeous colors out there.

I love the way the sing, chirp and play with each other and their toys. I live the way they look at e when I talk to them and I love the way my brave boy Mac always wants to play with the bigger birds and the way he lands on my head and preens my hair.

I love how they sing and chirp. I especially like it when they are comfy and get all fat and fluffy for a bit. When they tilt their heads because they are curious I melt x3 I just find parakeets all over adorable and they are my # family choice and I say family not as in a family pet choice I mean they become part of the family

that fat and fluffy if only for a bit is ok if its regular this means the bird is sick

I love everything about parakeets. Mine are like having little jewels on the wing in the house....emerald, yellow diamond, and a sapphire (I have green, blue, and yellow keets, one each). They're cute too. I love the little noises they make when they're feeling all relaxed and a little puffed and probably ready for a nap and start talking to themselves.

What's not to love about parakeets??

id ont understand in another post you said they never come out so how is it your saying ..jewels on the wing...if they cant come out to really have a good fly?
