Great I can make my own stuff saving money for things like a vet is always good laugh My babies also don't seem to bathe like they don't like getting in the water or something frown they do clean themselves though. Is it possible that they just don't use water like that shocked also they started chirping back and forth then ack ack acking (best I can describe it) at each other loudly flapping their wings c.c

allllllll normal hey i dont see the pic of them anymore maybe a glitch here in the forum or did u remove it??

as babies they wont take baths right away but they will be looking for something for relief when they start their first major molt...and then just in a shallow dish the shallowist you can find even if its a lid of some sort place some VERY wet LARGE kale or beet leaves...they will eventually get the idea of rolling sort of in them to get wet ..dont worry about it for now and in the wild they can go a loooooooong time without water to drink...everything in THEIR time lol...and sometimes thats a looooooong time..months and months 8mos before cappy even wanted to sample any sort of beans or veggies i serve a ton of different ways etc...and same with the stupid bath...i tried EVERYTHING...no go ...then one day i was running the spray hose in the kitchen sink a viola' that did it ...he didnt want BATHS ooh nooooooo not him he wanted a SHOWER...but didnt like an still doesnt misting...now when he is out and about when he wants his shower he will fly to the sink whether the water is running or not to let me know and all i have to do i turn the switch on the faucet filter BRITA i have on easy and BANG down in it he goes. smile

yep you can make your own toys just being sure its all safe stuff you use...an no loose string where they could get tangled in it that why i said thread some thru a plastic straw then place something at the bottom and knot it...doing things like that...if they can flip an toss it or bang it and make noise they are happy lil campers....like kids with banging on pots n pans gotta have that noise or be able to throw something giggle

I had a picture of Pineapple for my display I don't know what happened to it when the page loads there is a square with a x then it disappears D: Also as long as the I had Nugget he hasn't bathed once. I clean his cage and give him a little bowl with water and he ignores it so bad like it's not even there frown And they seem to get along a lot better now that they are separated smile I've been sitting near Pineapples cage talking and I just see a bunch of head tilting xD But yet I haven't seen the water get touched :< Maybe it happens when I'm not in the room? It just worries me because I'm just that kinda person c.c

EDIT: I got the picture to show up. Yes that is Pineapple laugh At the top of the dome on the cage Pineapple is clinging to the wall then grabbing the ceiling with the beak and pulling up,hanging upside down and then repeating she is a lot more active then Nugget xD I guess she is exploring the cage and entertaining herself (Im just saying her for now since I hate saying it and I'm unsure of the sex yet >>)

well thats good she is being playful and entertaining to some degree herself by doing that...hopefully...or she is just exploring her cage...they only drink at best a couple drops of water when they do...do worry about it...and even tho the bird hasnt bathe doesnt mean it doesnt want to just means it hasnt found something yet it wants to try to bathe with...like i mentioned ...things in a keets time and patience from you by always keep trying if one thing dont work try another bowl or like i said just big old really wet beet or kale leaves on the bottom of the cage in a very shallow dish AND DONT add water...just the very wet leaves...

it takes awhile for these guys...and something placing a favorite toy with it all would encourage them to investigate...

they also get water/moisture from fresh veggies if offered and they eat ...

Yeah I'm happy Pineapple really seems to be warming up to me smile how long do you thing it takes before they know their name? Pineapple also seems a lot more easy going and less skittish than Nugget I guess that's just one of those personality things o.o In any case I'm very happy she is getting used to her new home laugh whenever I go to the pet store I have to stop myself from buying the whole pack of keets because I want them all to have a good home xD

You can definitely get a bigger bang for your buck by making toys.
You can use all the things illusive mentioned that you might already have around the house and you can go to some place like Walmart and get plain 100% cotton butchers string or a ball of UNTREATED hemp string to string beads n buttons n bottle caps etc. You can get a good size bag of multi color pony beads that will make lots of toys. A package of the cat balls are really cheap too, comes in a pack of 8 or something like that. Use some for floor toys and some to string along with beads and pieces of colored drinking straws. They like pieces of straws for foot toys too.
My guys love those plastic capsules you get from gumball machines with the rinky dink little toy inside? put a few beads in so it rattles...you can also take a piece of the cotton string..maybe 4-5"..put a few beads at each end..and close the middle of the string in the cap of the capsule. Crazy but that is one their favorite toys! Levi uses em for bombs. He carries them in his beak or feet and drops them on us as he flying overhead. lol Brat!
Can also be hung on string with beads n straws.
Never leave bare string of any length. They can get tangled and strangle or break a leg
Sometimes you can find a few small bird toys at Walmart for 87 cents. They go fast when they get them in tho, so ya have to be lucky. lol
Most loove toys with the liberty bells. Don't use the round jingle bells because they can get toes caught in them. If i see a bigger bird toy on sale that has lots of pieces, like multiple bells, or pieces i think my guys will like I'll get it and take it apart to make other toys out of it.
Once they start playing with toys you'll get to know what kinds they like best. Like mine like bells and fringes on their toys.
It will also help once you know whether you have male or female so you'll know if you can make shreddy type toys or not.
You can make toys even out of paper or cup cake liners...but probably not a good idea for females.
Heck mine like little wads of paper they can toss around.

I find the best greens for bathing purposes are romaine or green leaf lettuce and parsley.
The romaine or leaf lettuce is better than the iceberg nutrition wise. Still not exactly highly nutritious but not bad, and great for bathing. It's something your family might get anyway for salads n sandwiches. You can clip it to the side of the cage with a clothes pin(even try on the outside of cage at first so they get used to seeing it) or lay it on the cage floor or on a plate or shallow dish.
Kale is probably one of my top picks nutrition wise for them and they love it. It doesn't do well for baths tho because it's weird..it almost repels water. Beet greens are another of my top picks for eating. And as long as we're talking veggies...it's important to keep trying orange ones too. I'd go with sweet potatoes and carrots. Vit A is crucial.

So for a bath try the nice dripping wet lettuce n parsley and give other types of containers for a bath tub a try too. Sometimes it takes finding just the right one THEY think is just right..to get them to take the plunge. I must have tried 4 or 5 different things, starting with a bathtub shaped bird bath with a mirror at the bottom. THAT was useless, they didn't use it and it was too small for them to stretch their wings to get wet anyway. Waste of money..don't go there. wink
(makes a good toy box in their cage for foot toys tho)
Mine like a plain plastic sandwich container and it HAS to have lettuce or parsley in it.
Picky? Nah.. not much huh? LOL

Love to see some pics of your birds so we can maybe tell if male or female and age of Pineapple.

k, i'm rambling. can u tell i'm bored? crazy

So once Pineapple is settled in and used to me being around the cage should I start getting Pineapple used to my hand being in the cage and then after she is comfy with that start with the perch in the fashion you mentioned?
