I just wanted to introduce myself and my two budgies, Cricket (green) and Widget (light blue). This is my first time owning birds. When I was younger, we had a family pet parakeet (B.J.) but I never really interacted with him.

When I first got Cricket several months ago, he was in the smaller cage, but within two weeks I had upgraded to a huge cage. Then last month I bought him a friend, Widget. I kept the smaller cage to use as a quarantine cage.

It took less than a week from first introductions to living together full time. I can't imagine that they would get along any better if they had been together all along.

I look forward to getting more info and seeing more pictures from all of you!

Welcome tudderette. Your birds are very pretty. I have the same cage and I love it.

BTW... both your birds look female to me. I could be wrong but I really think they are both girls.

I have to agree with tess and cetan...looks like 2 girls to me too..pretty girls at that smile
Love the cage. PERFECT size.
Want a little tip? If you get plastic flexible cutting boards and cut them to fit the bottom, over the grate, it makes for easy cleaning. Much easier than scraping poos off the grate, AND it gives them a flat surface to walk on which is good for their feet. They get tired of having to wrap their toes around perches and cage bars all the time.
I'd say line with paper towels...but having girls there that could lead to breeding mode being as they could shred the paper for "nesting material". Try to avoid shreddy type things with females.
Great to hear they get along so well. Not always the case, especially with females and sometimes with the males also. You lucked out smile
Know that that could change as they mature, one or the other, or both could develop territorial issues, or become a bully. If that happens you will have to separate them. Hopefully they will continue to get along just fine tho...just be on the look out for changes in behavior/attitude.

Welcome to the forum, and thanx for sharing pics.
