this is a good post--people should have this information on hand if they have a bird because it's easy to think, 'oh wow--this is good for me and it would be easy for a bird to eat--i'll give it to them as a snack!' i actually used to think that about avocado--luckily i found out it was bad for them before i even came close to giving them any! whew

what about nuts ??/ i know they can have nuts and most seed mixtures have nuts in them ...

but what about normal nuts ??? and what about the salt on the nuts??

i eat nuts alot since i dont eat meat ... and nunu was sittin on my hand extremly interested in this thing im puttin in my mouth lol


i sucked the salt off and offered him some he pecked at it but didnt eat it .... maybe its too big for him?? too hard or cumbersome??? was just a cashew ....

maybe a peanut instead....

I'm bringing this back up for the members who are not aware of the dangerous foods for their birds.the holidays are coming, we have to be extra careful when our birds are out.we must know things that can harm or kill them.some of the newer members have been asking so here it is.

I forgot to tell everyone that bread gives no vitimins or minerals to budgies or tiels.smokey love white bread but the vet said to only give it once in a while wheat bread and bread like that even though there not high in the things birds need it would be better then white bread.to be honest sunflower seeds and things like that are not good for them,they don't supply a lot of what our birds need to be healthy and yes beans should be cooked all the way thur before giving ouw birds.

add to this list of things the cardboard that paper towels come wrapped in and toliet tissue.
