I noticed almonds are on this list:



This can't be true for all birds, can it? Or maybe some birds within the same species are alergice to them, just like some humans are? I used to feed my bird almonds all the time before he passed away. He'd mainly break it apart but would eat a little of it. He really, really loved almonds. I still feed almonds to my other bird once in a while. I never noticed anything unusual after feeding them that would indicate an allergic reaction.

no almonds are not really something to be fed here is a list of ALL things good and bad...however almonds other than the plant here i dont see on the list but its best not to feed these..as there is some toxicity to them..

I've always considered almonds safe for them.
I would definitely avoid peanuts, but almonds i think are fine.
Many even make toys with almonds.

I was shocked to see almonds on the list too. I have N almond toy that I made my parakeet and she loves it. It may be mentioned due to just allergies some birds may
have.

no its not becuz of allergies to some birds...it does have certain toxins and each bird will be affected and depending on size of bird how often fed etc determines the outcome...its simply not worth the risk when there is so many other options to be safe...rather than sorry..and why knowing give something toxic to a bird ???

I didn't know until I found this. I have since removed all suspect food from even coming close to my bird. Also have it posted on the refrigerator to make sure everyone knows what she can have. Thanks to all for the input.
