That all depends on the dimensions of the cage. Do you know what size it is?
Also be sure it is powder coated and bar spacing is no more than 1/2".
Will her bird get plenty of out of cage time for exercise?

Got a link for the cage you're talking about?

im one of those that just can not bring myself to say ...if all you can get is small as long as you let the bird out a lot is ok...

thats where the bird will after all spend most of its time and days especially when there are days when for one reason or another it wont get any out time or very little...

when you put in food cups and more than a cage provides and cuttle bone ...mineral block...some toys...the swing...small just does not cut it...

i know this will sound harsh but ...picture yourself in a bathroom all day...for the most thats all the space you have to live in...24/7...

this sounds like dorm living quarters and she should wait till more adequate space for her and the bird can be given...

thats my take on it... frown

I agree..the bigger the cage the better. They spend so much time there and need sooo many things.
When i first got Levi, I got a 18x18x24"H cage. Looked big enough to me. Then as time went by and i started adding toys, more perches, dishes.....welllll i found i needed a bigger cage.
I don't know the measurements of the cage your friend has in mind linda, but tell her to get the biggest possible.

The cage my guys are in now is i think 18x30x36"H. I find it's a perfect size and dimensions are great. Plenty of room for toys and all and still gives birds room to stretch their wings and do a little flying inside. It sits on an old coffee table i had....so really she can get a decent sized cage and it should fit on a dresser top or table just fine. Just take measurements of what she plans on using for a stand, and remember that sometimes the BASE of the cage is bigger than the actual cage(living) area of the cage. Take that in to consideration when choosing a cage.

if she has to wait to save a bit more for a bigger cage she wont regret it and neither will the birds...she should check out ebay as well...like kksuns said when she had a 18x18x24 she found out pretty quick that was too small...so did i...

patience is everything and doing things right in all areas ... laugh
