i thought this was hilarious and demonstrated the trouble with texts written when the known world was very very small. a perfect demonstration of the fallacy and worthlessness of religious texts:

how about everyone else?

i respectfully do not agree as to the worthlessness of religious "practices" or what your calling "text"...

but yes when the world was small and there was the unknown of future choices this could pose a problem but not if you adapt as they are doing to accomodate their religious beliefs then i see no issues.

and i think its more worthless to poke fun at these issues...its wasted energy and serves nothing...if your not religious on any level, or just looking to poke fun at others beliefs,... then i suppose its what you do.

well, actually what this explicitly demonstrates is the irrelevance of arkane religious practices and texts in a world of which we are gaining an ever increasing understanding.

these religious practices were derived from texts postulating what they saw as an ultimate reality with out the knowledge of what is over the water, let alone beyond.

how are religions adapting to the discovery of non biblical races or our understanding of evolution, let alone the unifying theory of physics which is just around the corner? they are not.

i am not poking fun, i am demonstrating that medieval thinking has no place in the modern world and serves no practical or philosophical purpose. i find it very interesting that you completely failed to respond to that facet of what i was pointing out.

Maybe Illusive Fantasy is thinking that everyone's feelings should be considered and respected.

Religious belief is extremely important to some people, and they feel personally distressed when their religion is treated in any kind of negative manner.

People take things personally, when the subject is very important to them.

what i did not fail to recognize is a attempt to get me lured into your own doubts/questions/convictions/perceptions and philosophy or facets.

funny how some like PDM understand while others choose only a road of discourse...

i wish to add here tho in closing this topic, for me anyway, that...this particular religion that was mentioned is not even of my own...but as PDM says...no ones religion or spirtual nature should be treated in any sort of negative manner.

so with that in mind..i wish you peace.

I'm not pro religion, though, Illusive Fantasy. I think that it does a lot of harm. I am just pro- respecting others and caring about their feelings.

However, in the past, people have considered my criticisms to be personal insults, too, so it is not always easy to find the right path, where one might truthfully say what one thinks, without causing others distress. smile

PDM I am one of the last people to be pro religion myself...however, I do consider myself to be of the spiritual inclination which some I know are not of that direction either.

What I found to be offensive was the word "hilarious" in regards to someones belief structures and problems which may arise as a result of them...this is not for us to judge or find comic relief from and I think there are many other things which are less offensive to discuss where humor can be involved...however, some keep beating the same old drum and it gets old...redundant...and boring.

I am done with this...before the comments also get old...redundant...and boring. Not only that but, there is zero to be gained in any of this for anyone to be reading and looking for information or guidance instead finding only sarcasm.

Now as far as saying what one truthfully thinks in here...welllll we know abit about that too... dont I? You and I are certainly not alone on that subject.

But there is a difference about saying what one truthfully thinks and being in truth...on a course of a.... repeated knowingly offensive path which can be viewed as nothing more than a attempt to demoralize someones choices of religious or spiritual constructs.

That is taking into consideration that a individual is of any level of intelligence to begin with and would realize this.

automatic respect for religion. i'm sick of it and will give it no credence.

yes i find it hilarious but only because it is important to be able to laugh and laugh... it is actually a great tragedy that religion deludes people to the extent that they do not stop and consider such logical dilemmas. just as tragic as people who wish to promote sharia law, deny their kids blood transfusions, and teach creationism at school.

i don't care if i am offensive any more. i have always tried to see the good in religion but the ignorance spread in its name offends me to the core.

so if you want to get in a fluster about something, don't be so petty about something as small as the choice of one word, but get your knickers in a twist about the very real damage religion causes to society. religion does not deserve automatic respect, and it will get none from me, so expect me to talk in the same terms as would about american imperialism banking and zionism, none of which seem to cause remotely the same offence in my stance on them.

I wouldn't suggest respecting the religion, just the people and their feelings.
