We are celebrating autumn! I'm giving away six hanging cranes made in your choice of patterns. Here is what the cranes will look like in general -

You can choose any paper from this set, as well as single color paper -

Patterned Paper Options

Here's how this contest works! I'll ask a series of questions about Japan and origami. Whoever posts the right answer first gets a point. Whoever gets up to five points first wins! Make sure you DO NOT EDIT your post - make a second post if necessary. That way it's always a permanent record of exactly who made what guess at what time.

Be sure to "watch" this topic so that you get email alerts when new questions are posted!

QUESTION 1:
A crane is a type of:
a) rodent
b) bird
c) fish
d) zebra

The total value of this prize is $25 including the shipping. This is open to anyone in the US or UK only, for legal reasons. I don't have permission to offer "gambling" to any other countries. The entries have to be from someone aged 18 or older. No purchase necessary to win. I will post the winners list here and contact the winner directly via email. Void where prohibited.

Full contest rules can be found here -

Illusive Fantasy is exactly right! A crane is a loyal bird who typically stays with a mate until death. It is why the crane is a symbol of long lasting love in the Japanese culture.

Well done, Illusive Fantasy! You get a point smile

So the current tally is:

Illusive Fantasy: 1 point

A new question will be posted soon! Anyone who wants to get an email alert when the next question is posted, you can watch this thread. To watch a thread, use the "Topic Options" drop-down at the very top of the thread.

Within the framework of the question B is the answer

However, because of its' structure - especially in Japan - perhaps philosophy or "Spiritual Way" might be a better description? smile

I think that Lisa's main concern, altho i should not maybe speak for her is

Lisa is trying to spark some interest here with her generosity of doing a give-a-way type of thing for all of us interested in participating, without making the questions seem to difficult so that it will not seem a impossible type of contest for some, as there are many here of all ages... smile

Ninjahedgewych is exactly right on the question!

Illusive Fantasy has the purpose of the contests just right. They are meant to be simple and fun, something that everyone can give a try at. So the answers won't necessarily be in depth. They're hopefully more cute than challenging smile.

So the current tally is:

Illusive Fantasy: 1 point
Ninjahedgewych: 2 points

QUESTION 4:
A tatami is:
A) A sugary dessert
B) A rice straw mat
C) A tall mountain
D) A winged insect
