Ok good...how old are they both? and to answer your question;
When you breed them, they have to be in their own cage (the 2 of them together in same cage)..and all other keets in a seperate cage, but no, they are not shy around other keets to mate, but the other keets will antagonize the parents, break the eggs, and bug them...thats why they have to be seperate... good luck...and tell me when they're of age so i can help you along..if you want...or post here if you have any other questions!

They are around 6 or 7 months i dont really want to breed them for awhile longer, i'm glad i can come to you when i am ready because i may have a few questions once the eggs come and all, i will have to go out and buy another cage soon enough i just honestly went out and got a other parakeet i want to have a few i love these birds there so adorable ...i will come back and ask you some questions hopefully there ones you can answer if not i will call a vet..thank you

Hii!...Um, I just joined in forum, and I have a question that I think you may be able to answer!

I have a male and a female parakeet, that I've had for quite some time (the male is about 9 years, female maybe 4)

Lately (month or two) my female Parakeet (Miranda) has been developing a large abdomen.

It isn't THAT big, but it's big enough to get me to start worrying...I don't know whether she is pregnent, or if something is wrong!

Could you please tell me (or show me, I would greatly appreciate that) what a pregnent parakeet looks like? I have no idea, and I'm really afraid something might be wrong with my bird!

well after the male... erm... impregnates her it only takes 2 days for her to lay the eggs, so if its been over a period of several days, then i would just say shes gaining a little weight, lol.

yes, they only have the egg in there for 1-2 days...so their not really considered 'pregnant'...just weight maybe, hopefully, but to be safe, call the vet, or go see one...that's the best decision for her!

Ah yeah, my friends dad is a vet. Hopefully he can take a look at her for me, because I really can't afford a vet trip right now ;_;
