Chad E: yw!! Tigerblueyez: Well, there is a definate possibility of having lutino babies, very good chance actually. But a lot of the genetics come from the parents parents, their parents, and so on. It all is hard to predict! good luck! Stephanie Sweet keets: Well, 8 hatched is a lot, but not abnormal. How old is the youngest, and oldest baby? If they are all still young, and she's laying more eggs, you need to replace the eggs with white marbles, but first wait 7 days, and see if they're fertile or not. if so, keep them there, if not, replace w/ white marble. *But, if all the babies are out/wandering in the cage, occasionally going back to nesting box. and she seems like she wants to lay more eggs/start another clutch. you need to remove the box. but only if ALL the babies are out, and wandering in the cage. This goes for all babies like that, once they're all out, you need to remove the nest box IMEDIATLY! The mommy may want to start a new clutch, and possibly kill some of the younger babies still in the nest, to make room for the newbies. Carollee: Wow...that was fast, apparently they really wanted a family! lol...sometimes it can take mos.! Now that she is interested in the nesting box (and i assume she has a nest in there, aranged around to her liking) you need to ASAP add in the calcium powder supplement. All you have to do is just give them fresh water every day (in the dish or bottle, w/e u have now). And make sure they have lots of fresh foods and their seed w/ the powder calium supplement mixed in. Sounds good! they sound like a successful couple! good luck! Pudd: Thanks! I like to help...

You only need an incubater if any infertile eggs are rejected by the mom. You will probably not have to buy one. They also cost hundreds of $$! If you buy an incubater, you must also buy a brooder. Also hundreds of $$! The brooder is for handfeeding the babies, after they hatched in your incubater, or the mom won't take care of a/the chick(s). I would right now just shop around for them, and find an incubater you like, and a brooder, you like. Also, to go along w/ the brooder, if you need one, you will also need the formula and suringes. So go look for all those things, but I wouldn't buy them yet. Especially if you're only planing on doing one clutch. How many are you planing on doing? 1? 2?
But just keep in mind that you may not need them in your first clutch.
The only equipment you need now (that you will deffinately need) is:
-Nesting box -Calcium powder supplement (found at most petstores and deffinately online!) -Nesting materials (I've always used Timothy and wood shavings, I found that's what they like best) -and a BIG cage. are you planning on keeping the babies? or how many? or none?
