wow. you talk about stereo typing in the books characters but here you are contradicting yourself. Mark wahlberg...Underwear model...russel crowe...heart throb. You are the one who pictured these men while reading. Tom hanks is good, so is average joe down the road. As long as we can belive the character. Yes hollywood ruins things but I daresay you have bought into it just by suggesting those two (actors) Why not gill grissom from C.S.I or Macgyver. I do not think our entire culture buys into skinny, big busted, blonde teens as roll models, hollywood sells it and the weak buy into it. As for all the money people spend on plastic surgery feeding the world...why take that minimal view? I'm sure if everyone who went on lavish vacations indulging in wine festivals, and the like could easily help feed people instead, or athletes, or politicians, or any of the 1% percent of the population who hold all the power over the rest of us. I'd say the vatican and all there riches but I would be afraid of the price the starving would have to pay for their food. Mark wahlberg, sereiouly..?

Just a bit of a note on Tom Hanks...as stated before, I am a believer in him as Langdon. I reviewed a listing of his movies. If you start with the "Polar Express" and head backwards for 8 years...with the exception of "The Terminal" he has 13 or so movies in a row that grossed over 100 million at the box office. With a couple grossing over $200 million. They include romantic comedies(Sleepless in Seattle), war movies (Saving Private Ryan), and book adaptations(The Green Mile). In this time span as well, he also received 2 Oscars. Tops of the critics, and tops at the box office. Done by no one before. He will be good!! Bet on it!!!

Da Vinci code was written ingeniously, but i would have to say Angels and Demons was slightly better than Da Vinci code. Da Vinci code makes few references to Angels and Demons so more of the story will make sense to you all. But i'm assuming most of you have already read that book, but for those of you that haven't. Great book!

A number of people have made similar comments on various threads.

Lisa has a page on A&D here:
http://www.lisashea.com/hobbies/art/angels/

There is a thread from last year specifically for Angels & Demons:
http://www.wineintro.com/forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?

I wonder if they will make a film of A&D, after the DVC? It would make a lot of sense to do so, if this one is a success.
The only thing is, it would have to be done as a sort of flashback, or it would be / seem out of sequence.

Welcome EchizensoxX smile

I don't think they could have picked better actors and actress if they tried! If anyone can pull off Langdon Tom Hanks can! And Ian McKellan as Teabing? Brilliant! Saw the trailers and it looks excellent.

Hi SophieNeveu ~ Welcome!

I was talking to my son about the cast this afternoon, and he is not happy about Ian McKellan.
He said that, while he is a good actor, you always see 'Sir Ian McKellan', rather than the character that he is supposed to be portraying.

Does anyone else think this?

I agree with your son--Ian McKellan in the past has been a wonderful actor--but of late seems to be just playing himself. Maybe he will stretch himself a bid for this role. I have already mentioned a few concerns about Tom Hanks--He is a fantastic actor (and I have honestly loved pretty much everything he has done but just don't see him in this kind of a roll--then again I didn't think Kevin Kline could do a western and he was great in Silverado--so what do I know). Audrey Tatou, Jean Reno, and Paul Bettany are great for their roles as far as I am concerned.

I disagree. In Lord of the Roings all I saw was Gandalf! Thats still all I think of when I see him. But obv the director saw something he liked in him so I have complete faith iin him.

They're all perfect for thier roles and I think that its important for this film because it has such a big fanbase that they can't cut any corners.Everyone has such high expectations and I think that will make everyone work that much harder. As long as everyone gives 110% it will be a success. cool
