I'm a huge anime fan. I first discovered it when I was in high school, when they were playing Sailor Moon on Toonami (back when Toonami was GOOD) on Cartoon Network.
I can't claim to be extremely knowledgeable about the anime in general. I’ve seen a lot of shows, but I still haven’t seen all the most popular ones like Oh! My Goddess! And Chobits. I also don’t see what the big deal is about that one anime that has the guy who has the big red robe that has the tail and white hair. Sorry, can’t remember the name, it escapes me at the moment. It seems to be very popular but it always puts me to sleep.
I am working on owning my favorites. Obviously, Trigun is one of my faves, along with The Big O and Cowboy Bebop. I own all those on DVD thanks to a place on eBay. I got each one for $28 ^-^
I also got to watch a Record of Lodoss War marathon with some friends years ago, and I remembered liking it. I’ve seen 2 or 3 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist and really liked it. I’ve also seen some of Read or Die and REALLY liked that one!
I also really liked Hyper Police! It has a few poor episodes towards the end, when there were babies running all over (I really dislike babies, and it ruins a lot of shows/movies for me).
I also like a lot of the anime movies I’ve seen, but, again, I didn’t like some of the most popular ones like Ghost in the Machine and Akira or whatever it’s called. Those just… sucked, in my opinion.
I also really like some of the adult animes, like La Blue Girl and Dragon Pink and Perfect Blue. Okay I’m naughty, so shoot me ^-^
Oh, and my roommate has Outlaw Star, and I’ve watched the first maybe 5 episodes, but haven’t got to finish watching it. I need to start over on it. But it looked pretty decent. Not top on my list, but it is watchable.
So that’s some that I like and don’t like ^-^
