ive noticed more and more of this art all over my area.i must say some of it looks really good but some not so.

have you guys got the same in your area and what do you think of it?

i think there is a lot of talent in the graffiti world, unfortunately it's completely ruined by the 'tagging' side of it.

tagging, to me, is next to a dog peeing on a lamp-post to mark its territory.

those who show talent still get on my nerves because, whilst they want to show off their own creativity, they are often obscuring someone elses. i've seen far too much stunning architecture completely ruined with neon paints...

I think that the graffiti artists are very talented with their writing and pictures. But, it is rude and annoying. Also, it makes me wonder what some of it ACTUALLY means.

I think some of it is very good and in the right place it can be very effective. Unfortunately, in the wrong place, it's the equivalent of vandalism.

It's a pity to let such talent go to waste

In my town, there is tons of annoying graffti with names on it, which sounds immture. If they want to write on the walls, let them write on thier walls in thier house. Artist graffti is wonderful, casue it spruces up the place. Also there are tons of graffti on trains. I wonder why?

I have had a few graffiti writtings on the walls outside my nieghborhood. It is rude and vulgar. Four letter words and obsine language. I am disgusted by it.

Yes! It makes the workers to clean thier mess up, which costs money, which can raise the tax thing. There's even graffiti on cars, stands, stores, and sidewalks. It's DISGUSTING!

Graffiti is the wilful defacing of other peoples property. it is no differant from throwing a brick through your neighbour's window.It is against the law. Too many people treat it as "art" and " well insurence will cover the removal of it" True Insurence will cover that, now ask the question "Why is insurence so expensive."
If these people want to express themselves why not put it on Canvas or chipboard and Display it out the front of their place. who know, the talented ones might even be able to sell some of their work.
Being a cleaning contractor who has to remove Graffiti I have noticed that these people do not do their work on their own property.
Having said all that, Once In awhile you do get to see something quite witty.
At a service station where i worked, in the toilets they had a bank of Condom dispencing machines.
Right across the face of these machines some one had written " My Daddy says these things (Condoms) don't work!"
I guess that says it all in more ways! Then one think on it!

Yes I've seen the condom dispensing machines too - they may be yucky but at least it's encouraging safe sex.

As to the graffiti, much of it is real art but unfortunately because of the way it's done, i.e. vandalism I find it offensive. It costs hundreds of thousands to clean up what they do, and that's not art.

There's an Art school in Sydney that employs many of these graffiti artists though so at least that's something.
