There is no avaian vet anywhere near where I live.I am going to take him to a lady that is a regular vet,for petland.I talked to her yesterday and she said that it did not sound good at all!yes i have taken him out of the cage and put him in a box where he can not climb and yes i do and did have a cuttle bone for him.the lady that i talked to said that it was not his nails causing this,but then she also said that she wants me to bring him out to petland today so she could check him out also she suggested that I keep him covered up in the box?the female that i have also is very depressed because they have been together for a year and a half and never been seperated until now any suggestions for her???I will keep everybody informed on what the vet says today.

the birds will be ok if they are seperated for an hour or two. when he is in his little hospital cage, i always play some christmas music.

As for your female being lonely and depressed without him I think all you can do is spend all the time you can with her and like peepers suggested-play her fav music and don't leave her in complete silence. Does she have a mirror in her cage? Might help a little bit?

did the cuttlebone looked like he has been using it at all

I took him to the vet at 1:00 today,and she looked him over very good and said that he was in great health just that the toes were hurt and to leave him in the box for another week and he should be fine he just needs to rest the toes and thank goodness it was not something serious like I had thought.His name is Romeo and the female name is Juliet.
