We had our last visit yesterday and my friend brought Tom on Wednesday to finish the keet study. I tried not to go on the same day as Tom went for obvious reasons.

I asked Dr. Chappel to let me know what the study reveals when it is all put together.

Bob weighed 29 grams at the beginning of the study and now he weighs 33 grams. He is still very active and seems even happier if that is possible. He requires a pinch more protein in his diet to maintain his proper weight. He got pretty thin after the bullying by Tom, but I will say he was always kinda slight. I worried that if he got sick he had no reserve what so ever.

Both Bob and Tom had great blood work consistently through out the study. Even though Tom has a new mom he still eats food that I make for both birds.

I don't think I could have taken Bob one more time for blood work. He loved going to the clinic but he was starting to show he disliked the blood work part. Doc drew blood while feeding him treats he liked and it eased the stress a bit. Yesterday, he planted a well placed bite on the end of Docs finger after she was done....he had enough already!! lol
He promptly flew to my shoulder and back to hers and preened her face..like saying...."no harm no foul, but enough lady"!

I really think he is going to miss going to the clinic and being the "big cheese", everyone made such a fuss about him I can hardly fit his ego back in his cage! They ended the study a little early because they got the data required.

But we are Done!!

Yay! It's done.
Bob is such a trooper. What an easy going guy.
I don't mind bloodwork myself, but after a while...yep I have to agree with Bob, Enough already!!! lol
Happy to hear Bob has put on some weight.
Just goes to show what bullying and stress can do. Once that was removed....well it ain't rocket science.
Ya did good Tess, finding Tom a new home with a new loving and caring mom. Best thing for both birds.

Hopefully your sharing the story of Bob n Tom here will educate others in to knowing a second bird is not always the way to go. They are perfectly happy as single pets with their human flock.
More often than people realize getting a so called buddy does not work out like we hope. Not all birds get along. Each has their own personality, likes and dislikes.
Take it from Bob..obviously he couldn't be happier since getting back to being a one and only bird in the house. It shows not only in his weight gain, but his overall behavior. Heck he's talking up a storm now!!!

Love to hear what the study revealed once doc gets it all together. Please keep us posted k?
