DOC - Denominazione di Origine Controllata

The initials DOC stand for the Denominazione di Origine Controllata. This is a quality rating for wines in Italy. It was defined in 1963 and sets quality levels for wines from the various regions. A DOC seal can be found on wines that meet these requirements.
