Star Trek Ferengi Chianti Bottles

In Star Trek - Deep Space Nine, Quark had a bar with all sorts of great items in it. In fact if you go to Las Vegas (at least as of 2008) you can go to a museum of all sorts of GREAT memorabilia from Star Trek, and they have a Quark's Bar restaurant set up! I really love the "flute episode" from the Next Generation and they have the flute there to look at.

One wine related item that Star Trek fans always want is the tall, curly Chianti bottle that is used in many scenes. Here are images below of an actual one I had. This was used to hold Cardassian Kanar.

It's about 3' high and it an Italian Chianti bottle explicitly made for tourists. They make all sorts of odd tourist bottles out there - ones with baskets, one with high necks, etc. It's all about marketing, to try to get a tourist to take something home with them. VERY rarely one of these will ship in to the United States usually as a "oddity gift". My wine shop brought some of these in and then had to sell them at half price because nobody wanted them. I bought them all up and sold them on eBay to rabid Star Trek fans. Once they were gone, though, they were gone. It's a very unique item that is hard to find.

If you take a trip to Chianti, you might be able to find some - but then again you might not. It's an oddball type of bottle shape that is not easy to find! Here's another bottle size. Enjoy!

The drink itself was very thick and purple / black in color. Apparently they made it with food coloring and super thick corn syrup. I don't recommend drinking that! Maybe substitute port, which is thickish and dark.
