Champagne Cork Wire Cage Window Suncatcher
Champagne corks usually come wrapped in a wire cage. This cage helps ensure that the cork - which is under high pressure - does not release from the bottle until it is time to open the bottle. Most people just throw away this wire cage. However, it's a great craft item! You can use this to make little Window Suncatchers out of, for decorating your windows, for hanging as ornaments, or adding a beautiful glow to your office!
To create this Champagne window suncatcher, you need a Champagne wire cage, some extra wire, and beads.
Start with the cage - the item which holds the Champagne cork onto the Champagne bottle.
Using either a wire cutter or just untwisting the wire, pull out the "base wire" - the one that goes around the bottom of the cage, through the four legs. Pull it out of the legs.
Next, flatten out the four legs so they go out straight from the central core. The cap will probably fall off on its own at this point.
Get a small piece of foam board or cardboard and cut it into a circular shape, to fit within the cap.
Glue the foam circle to the wire circle. This is going to hold the cap in place.
