Red and White Wine Playing Cards

Looking for more fun during your next game of poker, cribbage or solitaire? These playing cards have great wine facts along with the standard suit information.

There's a separate deck for red and white wines - you can of course play with a deck singly or mix them up for games involving more cards. All the standards are there - chardonnay, cabernet, etc. But since you've got 52 cards in a deck, you also get to learn about the far less known varieties.

One of my favorite whites is Viognier. The card here lets you know that viognier was brought to France in 281 by a Roman emperor of Dalmation. It then goes into the characteristics of viognier - apricotgs, jasmine and honeysuckle. It lets you know that viognier should be drunk young. It even gives pairing suggestions - crispy fried shrimp!

Not only can you get the card decks separately, but you can get them as a "grand cru" set complete with a lovely plastic case. Now you can play any two deck game you want, and learn about both red and white wines as you go. It'll make waiting for your opponents to make their move quite fun!

Card playing is one of those pasttimes that has survived the ages and even gone electronic. I love keeping a deck of cards in the glove compartment and in my luggage to pass the time - and it's always great to make new friends with. With the wine cards, you not only get the fun of solitaire and group games, but you learn something as well!
