Songs with Wine in their Lyrics
Music is just like wine. Each of us has very different tastes in what we like and dislike. The music that is "best" for one person can easily be "worst" for another people. So it's always fun to see when wine is mentioned in song!
These are just the songs that do NOT have wine in their titles. These songs simply have wine mentioned in the lyrics. The songs with wine in their actual title get a list of their own! Songs with Wine in their Titles
Here are some of the wine songs I've come across. I find myself singing these sometimes while I'm tasting wines. How about you? Let me know if you know of any wine songs that are not included in this listing!

I don't pop my cork for every guy I see
Hey, big spender!
spend a little time with me!"
Brandy by Looking Glass
"And there's a girl, in this harbor town
And she works, laying whiskey down
They say "Brandy, fetch another round"
She serves them whiskey and wine."
-- Not at the same time, I hope!! :)
Cheap Wine by Cold Chisel
"I've got my Cheap Wine and a three day growth"
Children's Crusade by Sting
"History's lessons drowned in red wine"
Cracklin' Rosie by Neil Diamond

"Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine"
Escape / The Pina Colada Song by Rupert Holmes
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into Champagne."
-- I always thought this song was both odd and interesting! It's about a pair of lovers both cheating on each other.
Evil Woman by ELO
"You made the wine, now you drink the cup"
Feed My Frankenstein by Alice Cooper
"You dont want to talk
So baby shut up
And let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup"

Her Majesty by the Beatles
"I wanna tell her that I love her a lot,
but I gotta get a belly full of wine -
Her majesty's a pretty nice girl;
some day I'm gonna make her mine - oh yeah."
-- Look at that - wine promotes honesty!
Honky Cat by Elton John
"Living in the city ain't where it's at
It's like trying to find gold in a silver mine
It's like trying to drink whisky from a bottle of wine"
-- wait, doesn't that just mean you pour the whiskey into the wine bottle? That sounds easy to me! It's like the traditional 'cheat' of people pouring a cheap wine into a fancy wine bottle to impress the guests. I do love this song though! It's definitely a dancing song :)
Hotel California by the Eagles
"Please bring me my wine, he said 'We haven't had that spirit here since 1969'"
Then later on in the song:
"Mirrors on the ceiling, the Pink Champagne on Ice,
and she said, 'We are all just prisoners here of our own device.'"
-- shouldn't that be devices? :) I love this song in general, and wine is so intertwined in it and its symbolism that I think it's my top wine song of all time.

Jack Straw by the Grateful Dead

we can share the wine"
Jesse by Carly Simon
"Jessie, I won't cut fresh flowers for you
No Jessie, and I won't make the wine cold for you"
But then later the singer changes her mind ...
"Jessie, I'll always cut fresh flowers for you
And Jessie, I'll always make the wine cold for you"
She then explains her change -
"Let's open the wine
And drink to the heart
Which has a will of its own"
-- But here's the real question, why does this person want cold wine? Don't they want proper temperature wine? Are they drinking wine out of the fridge, with ice cubes in it?
Joy to the World by Three Dog Night
"Jeremiah was a bull frog.
Was a good friend of mine.
Never understood a single word he said,

Then if you're Still on my Mind
One Drink, Just One More and then Another"
Killer Queen by Queen
"She keeps Moet et Chandon in a pretty cabinet.
'Let them eat cake,' she says, just like Marie Antoinette."
-- Moet et Chandon is a brand of Champagne. Intriguingly because it's a pair of names, one Dutch, one French, it's pronounced as a mixture. The MOET part is pronounded non-French, as Moh-Et, while the Chandon part is pronounced French, as in Shahn-Dohn.
Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera etc.

"We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, Let's go mess and fool around
You know, Like we used to"

-- I was lucky enough to interview Mary before she passed away - she was a delightful woman!

"With some good red wine and my brand new shoes.
Gonna dance a blue streak around my living room!"

Sweet Eyed Blindness by Laury Nyro
"Don't ask me cause I ain't gonna tell you what I been drinking,
ain't gonna tell you what I been drinking
aint gonna tell you what I been drinking --
Wine of Wonder."
These Are the Days by Van Morrison
"turn water into wine"
-- I always think of a Mad Magazine parody when I hear this song, for the Lord of the Rings book back in the 1970s. I remember the new lyrics went something like this:
"Hills were filled with orcs and ugly creatures,
Polyester suits they didn't wear ...
Had no Burger Kings or Arthur Treacher's
And they'd never heard of Medicare ..."
Scary that I can still remember that all these years later!
This Magic Moment by Ben E. King with The Drifters
"Sweeter than wine, softer than a summer night.
Everything I want I have, whenever I hold you tight."
-- so is wine really sweet? :) Isn't everything sweeter than wine?

"They drank up the wine, and they got to talking

-- I love this song! But are they saying that they could only talk about important stuff while drunk?
We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off by Jermaine Stewart
"We can dance and party all night, and drink some cherry wine"
What's Your Name by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Well, the police said we can't drink in the bar
What a shame
Won't you come upstairs, girl,

-- I love how they say "Poh-Leese" :)
Willin' by Little Feat
"And If You Give Me: Weed, Whites, and Wine
And You Show Me a Sign
I'll Be Willin', to Be Movin' "
You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones
"I saw her today at a reception,
a glass of wine in her hand.
I knew she would meet her connection -
at her feet was her footloose man."
-- I saw the Rolling Stones in concert in 2008, they're still quite good! This seems to be relating to drugs, that the woman in question was waiting to meet a connection to do a drug buy. Apparently the later part of the song is about methodone and the woman could be Marianne Faithfull who was hooked on heavy drugs at the time.
You're Sixteen by Johnny Burnette
"You come in all peaches and cream, lips like strawberry wine.
You're sixteen, you're beautiful, and you're mine."
-- Ah, to be young and in love ...
