It's almost Turkey time. What is everyone doing for the holiday? Are there specials foods that you prepare?
I'm just having a small family dinner with the usual meal. Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, string beans, cranberry sauce and for dessert, various pies with ice cream.

Same here.. and probably the same menu lol Throw in the gotta have turnip and corn. And cream puffs for my eldest picky child lol along with the pies.
I kind of enjoy a small family dinner, usually couple of kids friends and/or ours pop in and out. And the leftovers are the best part!

My favorite part of the meal is waking up the next morning, and taking the cold turkey and dipping it into the juice of the cranberry sauce, then the gooey syrup from my sweet potatoes. This is followed by eating cold stuffing, then off to the mall.

Ah Black Friday..you are a brave woman!! lol I like the deals but hate the crowds.I've been shopping exactly once on Black Friday. My eldest and a friend of his went with me..it was when the Nintendo Wii came out and I HAD to get one lol for my youngest. We we're at the mall by 4:30am they opened at 5. I couldn't believe the people lined up outside and it was FREEZING!!So my son and I took one entrance and his friend another-we didn't know which one the gate inside would open first. When they opened the door everyone RAN. It was hysterical! My son took off so fast, I was laughing so hard I couldn't run myself. Anyway he ended up like 3rd in line at Gamestop, we got a Wii and they had 1 more left after ours. Whew. It was def worth it and we did have fun. But people get VERY worked up over those Black Friday deals! It's funny what we'll do to get that top thing on the ole Xmas list

We'll have thansgiving at our home, with Marge's Mom, who is staying with us for a while, and two of Marge's sisters and family. Marge's family is originally from upstate NY, but the sister who lives near us married a Southern guy (also) and she has learned to cook Southern style. She does greens very well, and does gravies really well.

So I'll get some Southern dishes. Marge loves the cornbread dressing that my family makes, but I don't think anyone is making it here. [We could get that if we went to my side of the family; but we'd have to travel to do that.] My family also does a to-die-for sweet potato souffle.

That reminds me, I need to buy a pecan pie. I'm a very good cook, but I don't have good eaters. Their idea of fine dining is take out. Pizza, chinese food, burgers and fries are what they like. Why bother with homemade cooking when they don't appreciate my efforts. I make a nice, homemade turkey, but I use Stove Top stuffing, Mrs Pauls Sweet Potatoes, canned cranberry sauce and I make a green bean casserole. Store bought pies as well.
There's no way in heck that I would get to a mall at 4 or 5 in the morning. Ok, maybe for Wii Fit. I've yet to find it in any store. The only reason I would go to a mall at all is to get the heck out of the house and away from football and leftovers.

I hear ya about the football and leftovers but I still pass on the mall. lol Like I said the 4am thing was a one shot deal. And actually we had fun and celebrated our actually getting the Wii by going to Friendlys after for a nice big breakfast. And even then we were back home before my other son was even up yet. So right up til Xmas I kept pretending to try to find a Wii and saying I couldn't find it ANYWHERE.Which he easily fell for because they were extremely hard to get.He even kept searching online himself.
I don't have good eaters either. Soo picky and not much variety. But they all like turkey lol And of course none of them like the SAME kind of pie. Oh no..1 pumpkin, 1 choc cream,1 apple and 1 that just HAS to have cream puffs (or it's not Thanksgiving lol) and me? I like it ALL!!! haha

Hey Carl, is Marge a rocker? (guitar)
One of my kids has Guitar Hero for the Xbox 360. It is sooo hard to play. I totally stink at it lol actually I pretty much stink at all video games. Wii sports is kinda cool though. I can actually semi play those

Yeah, Marge definitely rocks. Actually she can do it all! And she does the Hero pretty good. We both liked Mario.

When my grandsons in California had me play the video games with them, I figured out it was perfectly okay for me to be inept.
