Soda?? I've never heard of anyone drinking soda with chocolate, that's fascinating. What kind of soda?

Coffee is fine with chocolate, but Port would be too sweet. Stilton is the way to go with Port.

Well a 4 month later reply from me:

"I've never heard of anyone drinking soda with chocolate, that's fascinating"

This is where you shuold imagine a cartoon character rapidly shaking its head with mouth open and making a 'goggally' sound.

Weren't you ever a kid? Or seen a kid eating a Snickers and drinking a coke? A kid buys a candy bar, he's not buying a pint of milk to wash it down with. At any rate, soda and chocolate is very common in my experience.

What's with this too sweet to go with chocolate idea? I never heard of such a thing. Certainly one can contrast tastes as in the above Stilton-Port suggestion or maybe some salty or slightly bitter nuts, but why not sweet and sweet? I do it all the time.

Brom -

I do apologize, but I don't consider what a seven year old child eats as being anything to do with taste buds smile Kids eat piles of chocolate. They ingest gallons of Hi-C. So that is outside of what I consider for an adult thinking about what they're eating smile

I don't know any adults who drink soda with chocolate. I'll clarify it that way.

If Blogs is an adult, then that is my first encounter!

Blogs would be second in your experience. Soda is in fact tied for first place as most popular accompaniment to chocolate in this 'unscientific' poll.

I'll start polling all my friends - but I think soda will be a rarely-mentioned choice. Few adults I know drink soda - the stuff is full of sugar and chemicals! I'm thinking back to meals I've gone out in the past months and I think only my sister has ordered soda out of the adults. I haven't had soda in years.

I just wrote an article for my website on how to wean yourself off soda, which was entirely unrelated to this thread. It was because people keep writing and asking me for help in stopping their soda habit.

In any case, I'll post the results!

Soda with chocolate? :gag: Never heard of it either and can't recall seeing it among kids, though I'm sure it happens. ugh.

Anyway back to wine - most any red I drink I'll often have chocolate with.
