Which do you tend to prefer - red or white wine? Or are you equal with both and it depends on the food or the mood?

I will never understand people who give me this "I only drink reds (or whites)" thing. It depends on a lot on the specifics as you mentioned.

Very generally, I'm very seasonal. More whites in the summer, more reds in the winter.

In general, I prefer to drink red wines, though I drink more whites than I used to do.

I was indeed one of those who espoused 'The greatest white wine in the world is, after all, still a white wine.'

Funny thing is, while I still on almost any occasion prefer red, my answer to the the oft-asked "If you were trapped on desert island with only one wine...?" question is a white - spatlese Riesling in fact.

Most one type only ppeople I have met have been white wine only and that because of their perception of white wine as lighter and 'not as strong' as red wine. Their reasoning makes sense to me.
