Don'y know where to begin...I need your help. Through internet research I found I can purchase my own wine by contacting wineries & fruit farms and they have pre made wine recipes for you to taste and have made as your own..you purchase how many barrels you want & you can monitor it as its been developed. Its like having your own personal vineyard, with wine makers doing the work for you. I can't find Them.
I am interested in the sparkling moscato..I want to but the barrels, package it, name it and distribute it as my own brand. Please tell me where to begin.
I found Landon Winery but the do not do sparkling moscato or moscato at all, but wasn't sure if thats what type of vineyard I even was looking for.
Can you help me???

Only a few wineries will do this sort of outsourcing since they'd rather just sell it themselves and get all the profits. So you're starting with a challenge just to find someone to do "a wine". To narrow it down to a sparkling moscato is really looking for a needle in a haystack smile I'm not sure how many wineries in the US even do a sparkling moscato.

So I'd start there. Look to see who even has moscato, and then see if you can convince them to let you pay them in order to do the processing for you.

So for example the Oliver winery in Indiana does have moscato -

You will have to contact wineries directly and ask them if they do what you want.

Lisa probably is right, but I thought that many wineries would do contract wine-making. That's how store brans are produced.

Try searching "custom winemaking" and contract "winemaking". I didn't look at who makes what, but you will find wioneries that do custom wines.

Peter -

I imagine a large store could get a winery to do a joint project, but I got the sense that this person just wanted to do a small run for himself and maybe friends-and-family.

While there are some do-it-yourself places out there like this one -

http://bostonwinery.net/

They usually are fairly specific about what types of wines they'll help you make.

On the other hand, there are wineries that will let you take their finished product and simply custom label it -

for weddings and such, so that's also an option.

Lisa,

While I partly agree with you. The top post suggests that the person is looking for commercial quantities. Note this sentence: I want to but the barrels, package it, name it and distribute it as my own brand.
This person should be able to make a deal with any winery that can get the appropriate grapes, and it is not unusual for wineries to buy from other growers.

Without knowing the actual quantity desire, we are both guessing on this.
There are wineries and growers who make all their business from producing for others. It drastically cuts many costs and allows them to have a gqaranteed income, rather than hoping that people will like their wine.

I believe that this person is looking to label some wine. That is possible with many wineries.

Dear Peter -

I suppose I would caveat that not all wineries are set up to make sparkling wine, so he'd want to make sure the winery he worked with was set up to handle that.

In any case, I suppose we're just making random guesses if he never posts with fresh information smile.

Have you ever wanted to have a winery make wine for you?

Thanks Y'all are helping me a lot in my research. I have found that moscato grapes are hard to find so I am narrowing down to possibly finding that perfect tasting wine to start with. I do want to purchase barrels as my own to bottle or have the winery to bottle and I will use my own distribution company to assist in the distribution and sale for profit.
I have heard some wineries have wine already pre made for tasting but also available to purchase the the 1 like with its recipe as my own...I can also keep up with the process. But finding a winery, vineyard or fruit farm to do it is almost impossible or I'm just not looking in the right places. I'm trying to do as much research as I can but this is new to me, but this is what I really want to do. I just need some guidance and help.

Mel,

If you really want to do it, then it will take lots of research. If you don't work in the wine business, then you might want to get a job as a salesperson in a store that has a good selection of wine. That will give you a chance to find out what is available. I don't know where you are, but in some places people who have a license to sell retail can also import, and that can be interesting.

There's money to be made in the wine business, but it is also possible to lose a lot of money. Not all retailers and wholesalers are successful. But I won
t go nto detail..

The only winery that I want to have making wine for me is my own winery. Alas, that isn't operating yet.
