Ohio Wine Shipping Laws

Ohio is very cold to be making wine. Does anybody know of any wineries in Ohio?

Ohio has one of those laws which is being challenged across the US as being unfair. It is based on volume. Any winery that makes over 250,000 gallons CANNOT direct ship to Ohio residents, but smaller wineries are allowed to. Several other laws like this have been overturned as invalid.

In any case, for the time being you can at least direct ship in wines from those smaller wineries.

Ohio also has a very strict volume limit. Where other states let you get 2 or 3 cases a year from EACH winery you like, in Ohio you can only get 24 cases in an entire year from ALL the wineries you order from. This makes it really hard on the wineries of course. What if you had already ordered 24 cases from winery A and now order 2 cases from Winery B. If they ship to you, that is now an illegal shipment (because the person would have gotten 26 cases in a year). But how is Winery B supposed to know that the person got shipments from someone else previously? There's no state-wide registration of which person got which cases so far in a given year!

Let me know if you have any fresh information about Ohio wine shipping laws! If you have recently had wine shipped in to you here, please let me know how smoothly the experience went. Often the laws say one thing, but FedEx and UPS say another!
