Pig Roast - Chaine des Rotisseurs
I belong to the Chaine des Rotisseurs and in January 2011 the Hartford Chapter held a medieval pig roast. I of course dressed up in medieval costume! It was a delightful evening of fine food and delicious wines at the Hartford Club.
(my friend Chris toasting me in my outfit I made)
After a reception including sparkling wine and mead with sweetbreads, liver, and other treats we moved on to the sit-down part of the evening.
We were arranged in a "round table" and were treated to a reading of poetry before we began.
We began with a turtle soup gumbo.
Next came a roast squab with onions and stuffing.
Then the pig was carried in!
The pig was carved and distributed.
A salad was served next, with goat cheese.
One of our wines.
For dessert, an apple dish with calvados.
It was a thoroughly delightful evening!
(my friend Bob came up to join us and was a wonderful dinner companion!)
This dinner was paid for me by my mother as a birthday treat; I was not provided free access or compensation for any part of it.
