Ant, I am really sorry about what happened to you and your pet.

I am, however, also concerned at the accusations that have been made about a named individual. I don't know what his reasons were, but I am just not sure that it is legal to state some of the things that you have stated.

Accordingly, I am removing a small amount of the content.

Was this person actually recommended on this site?

Have you discussed your anger with him?

Have you made an official complaint?

she is giving a REVIEW of the service she had a vet office, millions of such reviews exist and are perfectly legal!!!

they are her words, no one elses. and she has proof of all what she says!!!

there is absolutely no legal issue here.

i dont want to cause problems here i really dont ... but it honestly disturbs me to see someones post get edited.

that means you are changing their words ... you are making it appear they said something they didnt say ... even if its just removing something. i duno in my opinion that isnt right.

she is simply giving a review.

You have to be very careful when using certain words about named individuals in public arenas.

I don't want any slander / libel issues being raised on here.

If this person did something without permission, then there must be ways to redress it.

hmmm

ok its her opinion, and that is not illegal, nor is it slander.

its only slander if what she is saying is untrue, and its true.

i dont get it ???

she is posting this to warn people, to give a review to his services. he is mascarading as an avian vet when in fast he has absolutely no avian certification what so ever !!!!

he is listed on this site, as well many many others, bird talk magazine even. so people see these recomendations and assume he is good ... not to blame this site or anywhere that he was recommended it isnt theri fault nor this sites.

however .. in many peoples minds this site carries alot of weight and they see him listed and may go to him.

so i think a fair and honest discussion of his credentials and ethics is perfectly ok.

but thast just me

Helwa -

It sounds like you do not understand fully what slander is. Slander is an extremely serious legal issue which could have us hit by a lawsuit and shut down.

It is fine to discuss *factual* issues. It is not fine to add in attacks to those issues. PDM did the exact correct, legally justified action in this thread.

The opinion of shouting "fire" in a theater for fun may be an opinion, but it is also highly illegal. I can quote to you many other examples of the same thing.

Please allow PDM to properly do her moderation without trying to second guess what she does extremely well. It is solely because of her talents and skills that this forum remains in operation.

For example, Helwa, you have stated "he has absolutely no avian certification what so ever". You did not offer any proof of that statement. Please provide the proof of what you have said.

my problem with this is there are other members of the forum that live in new york and i really would hate to see them go through what ant has. there should be a way we can warn about this guy and what he has done to ant and poor donald.

On a public board that I post on for newlyweds and one I post on that is also public for mothers, we are allowed to give bad reviews on doctors, vendors, restaurant, caterers and such. These aren't mainly institutions but also people in general. I know here it's perfectly legal to talk about the misdeeds or bad services of any person as long as that is true and can be a way to warn others to not go to them.

I post on MANY public forums and I'm sometimes surprised at how different the rules are here than on those very popular forums that even have their own commercials on tv and their own magazines. Can I get a better understanding why it's different here?
