I'm wondering if it is harmful to my keets if I put their cage in the shower to clean it with them in it? The water is tepid and very gentle and I just oscillate the water back and forth. They seem to like it. One of them gets on the bottom of the cage and walks around, the other just clings to the perch. Should I not be doing this?

Well, keets do enjoy a good showering, I just don't know about showering them while they are in the cage, lol. smile

Though, I have to admit, it's crossed my mind, lol, I ended up just biting the bullet and taking the keets out to clean their cage.

Hm, doesnt sound to harmfull, just maybe problems with drying the cage after? They also prob need half the cage not been showered so they have the option to get out the water if they want. I imagine its just like rain for them though...

what a good idea! it's convenient, it's quick, and it's a great way to get your keets to take a bath smile no--it doesn't sound like your hurting them at all by doing this

I don't think it would be that harmful.

I doubt it would be harmful. But then think about what being in their cage would be like for them after a while of it.

i think it might traumatize them they would have nowhere to get away from the direct spray of the water.

I don't see to much harm. Just find some other way that gives them more options.

As long as the spray is soft and warm and they appear to be enjoying it, there shouldn't be a problem at all.

In very hot weather I set my sprinkler hose over my aviary and turn it on to a mist for brief periods and they love it.

Thank you for the responses to my showering my keets. Actually, they seem to really enjoy it. I don't put the water on them directly and they hop in and out of it as they please.

well if that is the case gracie i think it is fine, as long as they enjoy it and they can get out of the water if they want to its not a problem.
