Hello all I was at work 2 weeks ago and a parakeet flew into our shop. I caught it and went to the pet store and purchased a good big cage and plenty of toys and food. I have also been giving him fruits and vegetables cuddle bones and spray millet. I had him for about a week and he seemed lonely so I purchased a parakeet so he would have a companion. I am hoping I have 2 of the same sex because I do not want them to mate and have babies. Both of their Ceres are mostly white with a very faint tint of blue barely on the bottom run but I really can't tell what they are. The lady at the pet store said she thinks they are both boys but I dont know if she knows what she is talking about or not... today is the first day and they stay real close to one another but every once in awhile they will make noises and peck at each other. I wish I could figure out how to post a photo of them on this forum so somebody with some experience and knowledge of parakeets could help me. Is there any way to post photos on this forum? I really want to know what gender they both are. Will they begin to get along better or is this normal? Thanks

Don't put a nesting box. If one of them lays eggs, they will just fall to the bottom of the cage. Just throw them away. Even birds that mostly get along will squabble once in a while.

Thanks Gay for chiming in and I apologize for not seeing this earlier.

It's definitely true that "pecking order" has a real, literal meaning smile. Keets will sometimes squabble and that's ok.

If you look in the photos area you should be able to post photos - let us know if you have a challenge with that!
