So if you have any funny or wierd things that your keets have done or do feel free to share them here!

Here's mine smile
I took all my wee ones into the bathroom cuz they like to hang out in there while i shower, has something to do with the running water i think, and as i was going Jet (my newest addition to the family) decided he wanted to fly but since he just got his wings clipped he couldnt do it very well...and ended up in the toilet which coincidently had the seat up. So i ended up with a very wet cold bird! it was hilarious! of course i felt bad for him tho....it should of named him John or something

That's funny, but also an important thing - always check over any area you are going to have the keets in for safety dangers. Pots of water and toilet bowls are clearly two of them. Your keet could have gotten some pretty nasty diseases from being in a toilet bowl! And of course if you hadn't paid attention right away, he could have drowned too.

Definitely all keets love to take baths, so make sure your keets have bathtubs of their own so they can splash around. In fact you could put out their bathtubs on the sink so they can take baths while you take your shower. When my boyfriend takes his shower, I always bring Nazo upstairs and put her on the shower curtain rod. She flies right down onto my boyfriend's head and shoulder and takes her own bath with him.

My budgie does the laugh thing too. Except he's not actually LAUGHING like your budgie. It's just that ack-ack sound they make, ya know? He always does it at just the right moment. Like one night I tried out a new recipe. It was this sauce that ended up all orange and thick and bubbly. My fiance came up to the stove to look at my creation and said, "wow, it looks like some scary bubbling concoction you'd see in a cafeteria". RIGHT THEN Joey goes "ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK!!" REALLY loudly, as if he got the joke. Maybe you had to be there, but it was so funny. laugh

Budgielover..no that IS funny. Just tonight I had Grendel on my finger when my best friend was over. He's been a turd all night and i said, "See can be really sweet though..watch." and I tried to scratch his head and just as I did he did that ACK ACK ACK ACK! and jumped off my finger and flew away. It was like he was embarassed to have his momma telling anybody he is sweet.

YEAH. I think they are smarter than most people know. My chincilla pouts! If she doesn't get held at least once a day, she will sit in her cage with her face to the wall and ignore you all day! I haven't had the chance to expierience parakeet attitude yet. I will have had her for a week tomorrow. Happy One Week Anniversary! To me. hehe. smile

lol yes they are funny budgielover

kacey dont worry you will experience it. I remember when Grendel was shy and demure never caused a problem. He was so polite and would eat and not throw (or spit, or kick) food out of his cage...and when I put him on his playgym he would just sit at the top of the ladder so quiet.

NOW he is constantly throwing things on the floor..chirping, squaking..pecking the nose of a curious dog who DARES to sniff HIS space (which is pretty much the coffee table). When he thinks I have not filled his food bowl up enough he pecks at his found and looks at me angrily...and when he thinks I've filled it too much he gets in the bowl and kicks seed all over the place! Of course I dont miss my shy quiet Grendel. Obviously he feels at home here and isnt afraid to express himself.

My Joey throws food out of his cage too - constantly! The main way he does it is to pick up a piece of seed, carry it to his porch, and drop it onto the carpet - RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Then he'll do it AGAIN and AGAIN until he's bored with it. I have to vaccuum the area in front of his cage ALL THE TIME!! (What a brat) wink But yeah, like you said Sarah, that means they feel at home when they do that stuff, so it's all good. :p

My keet is still a bit shy, so she doesn't do anything particularly hilarious, though. One day, however, she was feeling very social. This happened to be a day when I was conducting phone survey research for a class. I was in the middle of a survey just then, so despite the fact that she was chirping for me at the top of her lungs (I think she was jealous that I wasn't paying attention to her), I couldn't acknowledge her. She flew down from her cage and started running in circles around me and chirping and chirping... You can tell how spoiled she is, when she can't deal with me talking to someone else for fifteen minutes. :-D

Sushi's person..Grendel does the same thing. Maybe they dont know what the phone is and they think you are talking to them? Grendel seems to get extra loud chirping and chattering when I am on the phone. I have notice he tries to mimic my laugh.

Yup I work from home and generally am not talking to myself (grin) - but when someone calls and I talk to them on the phone my parakeets start chirping at the top of their lungs. I think it's a combination of them liking my voice but realizing I'm paying attention to someone else. They don't chirp like that when I go talk to THEM - only when I talk to someone else on the phone. They're quite smart smile

That's right about them only deciding to be obnoxiously attention-seeking when you're on the phone. When I talk directly to Sushi, she just chirps quietly in response to me, or when I say her name. But when I'm talking but _not_ to her - to the phone or another person - she gets upset that the attention's not on her. Also, she will generally be fairly quiet when it's just the two of us (unless, of course, she's trying to get the finches worked up), but when my roommates are all sitting around watching the tv, she gets jealous.

Hector has a habit of picking up a stick of millet i put on the top of the cage, and dragging it over to the cage edge and dropping it off. He'll do it with anything that is light enough. Hercules seems pretty mad that he does it though, and once hercules just stood on the millet as hector tried with all his strength to pull it off.
