Grüner Veltliner Wine Information
Grüner Veltliner is a white wine that most people associate with Austria. If I went into a room full of wine drinkers and said "Guess where this bottle of Grüner Veltliner is from?" pretty much all of them would shout out "Austria!" It is of course grown in a few other locations but only in very small quantities.
The grape grows very well in Austria, on terraces along the Danube river. The wine range from minerally to peppery depending on exactly where it is grown. Most people drink Grüner Veltliner when it's young, but it does have the ability to age.
Grüner Veltliner is an ancient grape, dating back to the days of the Romans. When you drink a Grüner Veltliner, you could be drinking the same wine enjoyed by Caesars!
I enjoy this with fresh salads.
